If there is a settlement prior to a trial, or if there is a trial and there is a court ordered settlement, in either case, where do the funds come from? The AD is a "Separate" part of the university in so far as how some of the funds are taken in/spent. Would the settlement have to come from "General Funds", or would the AD have to pony-up? When we've paid off in the past, where did those funds come from? If anyone actually knows, it would be nice to know.

The AD really has no dog in the fight, other than being witnesses. Any settlement will come out of the general fund.

The AD isn't being sued, the University is.

Good point brought up by Pennington this week. Take a look at all the love and praise Kobe Bryant for this season and this week. Around 9 years ago he settled his own sexual assault case and now nobody remembers or even brings it up. The start of the OW game on tv the lawsuit is brought up first thing, it's going to affect recruiting. Should UT settle and move on due to the poor optics? Good question and analogy. More food for thought

So Shaun King got his editor fired today bc the guy printed what King turned in...which just so happened to be plagiarized. Fyi.

Shaun King is a piece of sh!t who is pretending to be black for financial gain. Hes so full of sh!t that even black lives matter ran him off. He was debunked by clay travis then it moved onto jason whitlock slamming his a$$, which if you have time to listen to it, it was pretty damn funny. I don't wish any ill will towards Mr. King but that guy needs a SERIOUS reality check. Shaun if you read this, give it up man your white and quit lying. Everything that comes out of your mouth has been nothing but a lie and the worst part is you publish this stuff.

There comes a point where people who incite racism, violence, and hatred should have ill will wished upon them.

Isn't it amazing that an incident for a person that really did something is ignored by the media when a mooning incident is news?

Dustin Dopirak is reporting that Alexis Johnson's false imprisonment charge was dismissed. His aggravated assault charge was reduced to misdemeanor domestic assault. That charge, his attorney said, will be dismissed in six months without terms.

@philkaplan: Knoxville Police Department : No more calls to UT football coach Butch Jones. https://t.co/PF2qz0oApo

And there you have it. Many here argued this was all fine and dandy. Clearly the kpd has decided to change their practice

So when he continues to let a player participate in practice or play in a game because no one associated with the university was notified - then no one should complain because the player was allowed to continue to take part in any and all activities.

This implies no knowledge until something is reported to the public via some media outlet or a person takes something to the university and if that never happens players can play as long at they don't tell their coach about the incident and the incident is not reported to UT.

Edited to add:

Reading the article they are going to notify UT police which will them probably do the notifications to other university officials.

Also the article said nothing was done wrong - they just want to appear transparent.

This is very important to him and your disregard is ruining it. :)

The Knoxville Police Dept is reporting they will no longer call Coach Jones when a football player gets in trouble.

Any news on what this means for his future? I would compair it to Von Pearson's case, but i believe 100% of his charges were dropped while Johnson's are reduced to misdemeanors.

Well they did say they would contact UTPD, as by law, so I guess UTPD could just pass along the info. I still do not see what the big deal is letting him know, it is just a matter of finding out sooner than later anyways, does not keep him from getting in trouble if warranted.

From a UT perspective it was, is, and will be fine and dandy. There is no liability for answering a ringing phone. KPD had the issue and some tried to parse it into a university issue, it wasn't.

Amazing. Notify another semi legitimate entity that passes the word along to the coach, so that he can properly manage team discipline. I suppose it makes sense if that is or will be the notification procedure for every student.

Now the argument can be about passing the word to the university and the campus cops passing the word to a coach - safety in numbers? Maybe Butch can sing "Heard It Through the Grapevine ..."

Maybe the upshot could be that player misconduct charges become compartmentalized information, then Butch couldn't act because he didn't know. That should make the Title IX Nazis feel more accomplished.

I was recently made aware of an investigation the TBI conducted. They notified the accused employer (local police dept that had no clue) of the pending arrest PRIOR to it happening.

It's happens other places too

Sounds like instead of 1 call now it will be 3 or 4. Nice job Title IX. The hits keep coming.
