Switch to Nike: Like or Don't Like?

How do you feel about UT switching to Nike in 2015?

Well, its not all about the recruits

We purchase the clothing

If Nike makes junk that only appeals to the teeny crowd, then your older, more mature crowd won't purchase it. Down goes the revenue on clothing apparel for UT, making it harder to negotiate another contract

You have to have a happy medium and can't just do it to make 28 possible signees happy. Ludicrous thinking

UT would never do anything just to make a few kids happy. It would be bad business. Its all about money

We are talking about UT fans here.

They'll purchase anything with a power T on it.

I feel great about the move. In order greatest things UT AD has done: fire Fooley, hire Butch, get Nike, future fire Martin, hire Bruce back, then convince jimmy the booger to leave.

My dream scenario as well. If only Hart had the cajones to pull off such a coup.

I'm one of the ones that voted for disliking it. Here's why. I can't see the point in a clothing manufacturer being able to tell a University "here's uniform A, B, and C. What's that??? They all suck in your opinion??? Too damn bad, you have to pick one or you're in breach of contract."

And for the record, I'm 34......which shoots down the whole "the under 40 crowd likes it, the over 40 crowd hates it" as someone said earlier.

Id say as long as they don't **** w our unis and do stupid alternates, but we were already going down that path anyway

Remember - Nike, Adidas, Under Armour and Russell Athletic don't do anything, not one thing, that is not totally approved by a given school first. These companies can all produce any custom jersey that a school wants. I liked Adidas and I'll like Nike too!!

This is what really matters about the change. It is about the recruits, if they want it so do I. If you like Adidas on your UT gear you are @least 45. These young guys like Nike. Nuff said

Exactly.

Exactly. So, if Nike has it in the contract that UT just signed (as they've done with several schools) that they can make UT wear a specific special uniform, UT has to do it.

I was in the Adidas outlet store this last weekend in Destin, FL. From the items in the store you would think all they supported was European Football.

I am over 40 and I like the idea of bringing on Nike, and as a bonus the recruits are loving it also. As they say times are changing and we need to keep up with them, flat bill hats and all I guess LOL!!! :hi:

As long as we don't have duck wings and highlighter orange on the uniforms I will be happy.
This is what I'm worried about. And everybody got all worked up about smokey gray.

I don't really care that Tennessee is switching but can someone please cite where a recruit actually said that they wouldn't commit to a school because of the brand of gear a particular school uses. I don't follow recruiting close enough to have ever seen a quote like that and if someone can provide one, I'll concede.

Personally, I think that the brand a school uses is as inconsequential as random comments made on a forum when a recruit makes their decision.

I have seen many a twitter post stating they would not sport Adidas...

Am I going to go look through years of history to quote it for you? Not a chance.... Just know that it does matter.
