Switch to Nike: Like or Don't Like?

How do you feel about UT switching to Nike in 2015?

I am over 40 and I like the idea of bringing on Nike, and as a bonus the recruits are loving it also. As they say times are changing and we need to keep up with them, flat bill hats and all I guess LOL!!! :hi:

I would never wear a flat bill hat...

That fashion along with leaving tags on clothing came from when I was a kid in NYC...

We used to leave the tags on and not alter the clothing/hats in anyway... so we could wear the latest fashion etc... and then turn around and return it the next day or two and get our money back so we could eat for the week.

And now these Idiot kids think it is some kind of fashion statement...

I LMFAO every time I see someone doing this thinking its "cool"..

Its called being to Poor to afford the clothes on your back.

Nike has never produced anything that bad.
Oh yeah.....

no offense, but that's dumber than wearing the tags off the clothes you buy to keep if you ask me.

Surely this doesn't mean I have to replace all of my Adidas gear because of the switch. Not sure I can afford it at this point with retirement looming. Just as long as no one looks down their nose at me and wifey we'll be OK. :eek:lol:

not a true V4L. Don't look at me if we pass by each other on the street.

Even though I enjoy wearing Nike when running I feel indifferent about it. I just want to see them win and if they look good doing it more power to em.

I'm one of the ones that voted for disliking it. Here's why. I can't see the point in a clothing manufacturer being able to tell a University "here's uniform A, B, and C. What's that??? They all suck in your opinion??? Too damn bad, you have to pick one or you're in breach of contract."

And for the record, I'm 34......which shoots down the whole "the under 40 crowd likes it, the over 40 crowd hates it" as someone said earlier.

Alabama is a Nike School and I haven't seen Nike make them wear different unis

The school approves all uniforms...they tell Nike what they want and what they don't want...Nike will give them ideas and sample of what they have in mind but at the end the school decides what is worn on the field.

that is not true for every school

Never said it was smart or cool... And I wouldn't expect anyone who didn't grow up in the projects, or use the five finger discount in order to feed their younger siblings for the day because their mother was trading food stamps away for crack to understand..

I was simply explaining to people where/why that style started. It was out of Necessity, not any kind of fashion statement like they try to make it out to be today.

Where is the "does it really matter" option?

I think that qualifies as "meh." However, it's a terrible option because it DOES matter. The kids want Nike. The biggest camps are Nike. A fan saying he doesn't want UT to be a Nike school is nothing short of asking for a disadvantage. And, last I checked, we don't need any (more) of those after the past decade.

This is what I'm worried about. And everybody got all worked up about smokey gray.

Ha, these are the Maryland Terps uniforms and Under Armour's Doug Plank played for Maryland! Part of the reason they have so many schemes is that U of M is the only school who has four official colors. Some of these uniforms are really cool, while others are hideous!

I say, keep that traditional orange and white uniform and don't change it! A smokey grey or tasteful other color could work, only to be worn on occasion.

I do think we'll see Nike come up with the same orange color scheme we have now but make subtle changes to jersey texture etc. Should be fun seeing what is in store for 2015. . . Go Vols!
