At some point we gotta stop being the primary peacekeeper for the world As a libertarian I cringe at our defense spending about as much as I do with church donations being spent on bigger shinier churches instead of community outreach

To the degree Republicans are against it, at least that's being logically consistent. A lot of Repubs have never seen a war they didn't like, so Trump saying he wants to stay out of an intervention draws criticism from them.

It's really entertaining to see some on the left, who normally love talking about the military industrial complex, American Empire, No Blood for Oil, etc., come out against not getting involved.

Probably not, but that's beside the point. It's just funny to see figures on the left who are normally always against these things (i.e., foreign entanglements) be in favor of this one purely because Trump is against it. Kind of like some Republicans who were against Libyan involvement because Obama/Hillary wanted it.

Cut it and invest the peace dividend into domestic projects and if NATO needs our services on other continents then the surrounding countries can pick up the tab

That’s not how a military deterrent works and defense spending only makes up 15% of federal spending.

We haven't had a sustained policy in the Mideast since way before 9/11. What we have been doing is he very definition of insanity. We have just been reacting to whatever the weather is on a given day. We've spent enough over there in the last 20 years to have provided health insurance for every American and sent every HS graduate who wanted an education to college. I believe enough is enough. Lets get the hell out of there and let them kill each other if the want. We can sweep up the mess (dead) after it's over.

If Russia or China want to get more involved fine, let them spend their trillions and let their soldiers die.

Any outlet who talks about Syria without providing maps is not being honest...the way people talk the US is the only country in Syria...we had 2k advisors...maybe they have trained the forces and have completed their mission?

I haven't heard anyone say anything but this is a bad idea, the reality TV star dismissing his JV level cabinet and setting back America's interest in the region in orders of magnitude. I guess Donny's intelligence was challenged, which is why he needed to flex by telling us "“I, in my great and unmatched wisdom.” Just like every other bed shtting, the redhat's will nuzzle his crotch.
