If the hat wasn't all black then maybe it would mean something... just maybe... but basically no orange. Seems like more of a fashion statement due to that fact.

If I were a Clemson fan/recruiter I would either say that he was wearing it to spite the VOLS or I'd beat him back to Hampton with it. Sorry but if a kid showed up to UT sporting someone elses garbe I would put them directly back on the next bus/plane/car/bicycle/horse and wagon or what ever mode of transport i paid for him to comein on. If it was an"official" , was it an "official" ?

If I was a coach recruiting a kid and he showed up wearing a different school's logo, I'd think long and hard about whether or not I'd continue recruiting him.

If you two are done being blowhards maybe you'll take the time to read that he showed up to his UT visit wearing a WVU hat...

its just a hat; it means nothing.

It was posted in one of these threads that he has a UT '98 NC poster in his bedroom. Maybe he bought the hat while he was a fan of ours.

I am beginning to think that Fulmer promised this kid something and Kiffin is not willing to ante up. To save face for everyone Kiffin just told him that he would not fit into our system at QB.

I am all for recruits wearing UT gear on their other visits. At least it makes the internet and papers for other kids to see.

Fulmer promised him playing time at QB and Kiffin does not want to waste his time.

he has always been a tennessee fan

I can't believe it took almost 3 pages of posts for someone to say that. He said all along that he was a big Vols fan as a kid, has a UT poster on his wall, etc. It isn't his fault Kiffin told him what he told him.

I don't see any reason why Kiffin wouldn't open it back up to him. At this point and with the QBs we have, we need all of the talent we can get at that position. Even if it's just for 1 year or 2 years. That would still give him a chance to transfer if he got beat out for the job by whomever we get next year or the year after in addition to BJ Coleman, who may have a say so in the QB race for the next few years.

I think letting the kid go was a mistake. To me he looked alot better than Mccaron in the army game. But Kiffin knows what he wants and he is the head coach. So we will see how it all turns out.

i agree. i think we should have kept him i mean i'm sure kiffin evaluated him, but not enough IMO. If he didn't fit the program right after he tried, THEN he could transfer. THere's no rule against recruiting another QB the next year. I also find it sad that he can't play for the school he has been a fan for for forever..

So let me understand this....

If you were coach at University A and a recruit came for a visit and was wearing a hat (or whatever) from University B, would you feel disrespected?

Personally, if I'm about to make a committment to you, you damn well better respect my program.

all of you saying we should have kept Boyd, you do understand that he is scheduled to have ACL surgery next month right?

He will not be able to play next season, no matter he goes. So why would we bring him in and hurt our chances with getting one of the top QBs next season that Kiffin thinks can run his system?

Kiffin doesn't think he fits what he wants to do.. that should be the end of the discussion. Why some of you want to put a square peg in a round hole is dumbfounding to me.
