The DOD basically showed how incredibly inept the USG. They are tasked with removing American citizens and deflected to the State Dept on how many American citizens are in country. Here we are in a "rescue operation" and tasked with a mission and the ones tasked do not know the number of Americans to evacuate.

Everybody has a passport barcode and they know how many citizens are in country.

Would have been identical because he would be getting the same bad info that Biden did. In fact, it was that same bad info that caused Pompeo and Trump to make the deal they made.
Isn’t the Intelligence Community pushing back on that though. Are they not saying they communicated to the Administration that this was a definite possibility, and the Admin simply took it under advisement and went on their own?

They still using warthogs or did they finally scrap them. I know they're ugly but I've always loved that bird, ever since I was a kid.

Charlie Brown and his clowns are missing their big chance to get rid of A-10s. They could fly them around Kabul and then claim they didn't have time to get them out ... everybody knows A-10s are slooow good.

so this occurred in June; well prior to Biden telling us we could use the over the horizon strategy with Afghanistan

WSJ News Exclusive | Putin Rejected Role for U.S. Forces Near Afghanistan at Summit With Biden

You'd think that Mexikow has said similar things to biden considering the southern border mess and their complete inability and willingness to stop the invasion which includes ME terrorists as well as their own home grown thugs, drug runners, and people smugglers.

Maybe you'll get lucky enough to see pictures of the captured state dept CH-46 helicopters you referenced over the Taliban embassy evacuating their people some day. Now what about the military helicopters left behind?

What about them? The ones in the article I linked that stated they were stripped, not working, and being phased out anyway? We should be outraged the Taliban has a couple-ton piece of scrap metal rotting on an airstrip somewhere?

What we've seen is a couple of pictures of crashed or disabled military helicopters and your reference to a handfull of state dept CH-46s ... what about the rest - the ones the military were using and what had been turned over to the Afghans (with all the good stuff removed?)?

We peaked as a country some time ago. How would putting people who learned everything they know on the downslide help make things better?

It is not the age that matters. With age comes wisdom and historical reflection. The problem is electing 80 year olds who have been in a political position for decades and no real job in their lives. They dont know you or me, how to grow and prosper.

Face it..the only thing DC can do is hand out money. They create more problems than they solve. Pro tip: throwing money at problems does not always solve a problem, but usually creates more problems. Actually if you cut funding, more often than not, the problem goes away as people or gov entities have to be more "resourceful"

If they impeach him over this every future president will be crippled.

Dems have targeted republican presidents, so why not just go whole hog and cripple both parties equally? For now (and perhaps always) impeachment is a political device, and not one that is limited to punishing illegal activities. Dem politicians in particular never learned "As you sow so shall you reap".

We have to get back to the 10th. Have to. Too much power in DC and frankly if the money hence power disappears then most problems fade.

Agreed. Wisdom (gained with age) is far more important than intelligence alone. Our problem is the brainwashing that political office is the qualifier for a good president, so we make the same mistakes time after time and neglect the lesson. Politicians don't learn worldly wisdom; they learn what it takes to be a political animal, and we don't think and observe deeply enough to call BS and end it. We as a civilization have a fixation on power and tend to see politicians, CEOs, actors, sports figures, etc as more important, knowing, and due respect than the guy who actually works and makes real things happen. Some "leaders" actually focus the efforts of others; most take credit for the work of others.

Why put words in my mouth?

Personally, I have a kill em all and go home mentality. I don’t believe in occupation at all on any level as that is not militaries job. You complete the mission and kill the leaders and leave.

I am not a fan of hardly any handling of foreign affairs in my lifetime including Reagan, Bush and Trump.

But this is whole other level screw up.

There are screw ups that are included in books and then there are scree ups that books are written about.

This will have multiple books written about it.

Reagan was pretty good on a lot of foreign affairs. Letting the CIA run wild wasn't a great look though. Personally I'd go with Goldwater types. You can't elect them though because they are so blunt that the opposition can always label them as warmongers, unstable, and would end civilization. That again is the problem with politics in defining policy. A hard line on anything can be used against the opposition, so most just make absurd campaign promises and really say nothing to avoid losing. For all his sabre rattling, Goldwater would not have started a nuclear nightmare, and probably not have been the type to bog us down in some places we shouldn't have been in the first place.

I distinctly remember the ATC crisis and media narrative when Reagan fired the walk outs. I thought...hmm the man has balls. No planes crashed.
We need to dismantle so many Fed departments. Living on the tit of America.

In my honest opinion the media and the public should hold the POTUS accountable but this seems beyond citicism. Biden is getting hammered.

I wonder if it's because he had gotten dealt with, with kid gloves and this is what happens when you've had it easy from the press and fail bigly.

I'm not sure I like our adversaries seeing this but this administration should understand such juvenile mistakes can't be made and they need to focus on the right problems.

DC and all the agencies, branches, think tanks, strap hangers form a cozy club - do nothings that talk. They are coddled and made to look important like an oversized and overstuffed royal court. We've never demanded real accountability, so they are free to live it up and make juvenile mistakes. This is simply a step up from bull sessions in college dorm rooms that evolved from the day's classes in stuff like political science and other social studies. At best it is mid level intellect deciding poor policy. These people are "thinkers" not doers; they've never worked and accomplished; they've largely ridden academic achievement and personal ties.

Look at the bright side..Once we are out we can Tomahawk their governance buildings.

Might wing a Chinese ambassador, so we'll have to refrain to show we are diplomatic and not barbarians. Now if we had people who just might take that course of action, reasonable people might consider not putting their people in harms way - the Chinese have plenty of spares though.
