I think it is interesting that some people keep making this about our policy in Afghanistan. Everyone is pissed because we pulled our troops out before our civilians even though they knew this would happen. Who ever came up with this plan needs to retire or be relieved.

Then everyone is pissed for no good reason.

Easy. They bring in the Congressional Budget Office (that group who has never calculated the cost of anything correctly). The CBO will prove they got everybody, AND that within two years the cost of saving those people will have been paid with interest.

Ho Chi Minh was a nationalist not a hardline Communist regardless of how much US politicians tried to portray him as such during the Vietnam War. The only reason he reached out to Communist nations for help is because the US refused to recognize Vietnam as a sovereign nation following the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu. The NVA weren’t fighting for a Communist utopia. They were fighting for a united Vietnam under one government as was the Vietcong. Vietnam today while technically “Communist” has very little in common with China, North Korea, Cuba, or the Soviet Union.

We prove over and over again in this country and in others that you cannot through your own will make people better. That is something they have to do for themselves. You can perhaps create conditions where others can begin the process of self improvement, but you simply cannot do it for them no matter how many battles or wars you fight or how many pieces of legislation you write. It is simply incredible that so many people cannot absorb this one simple lesson that has played out endless times.

We got to be where we are because of it. Freedom to win..freedom to fail. I get that there are underpriveleged and need assistance..ie better schools and such. But people have to want to improve and sadly they wont and this dependence just makes it far worse. It is NOT SYSTEMIC RACISM. Racism was way worse in the 60-70's and yet the black family was coherent and plenty of mfg jobs.

I think you are being overly harsh in this case. These are young women and girls that have been beaten into submission their entire lives. The men there think nothing of burying them up to their necks and bashing their brains out with rocks. They can be legitimately raped and if they are subsequently ACCUSED by a single male they can be killed. Honor killings. Never seem to happen to men in the region. Always to defenseless women and girls. I guess when you are butt ****ed over and over by thugs and animals as a young boy it subsequently turns you into a jackal yourself and life loses any meaning.

Biden is abandoning allies. He is abandoning Afghans and their families who have helped us for 2 decades and they are supposed to 'fight for what they believe'?
