I read an article the other day about how a California high school class and many of their parents were trapped in Afghanistan now after going there on a class trip. They couldn’t reach the airport because of the Taliban blocking the way. Has anyone seen anything more about that?

I can’t imagine why they would have traveled there. Why would someone, as a parent or teacher, take their child or students to a country in such turmoil? I hope they all get home safely soon.

I'm sure we can all guess who their parents voted for.🤔 I wonder if they now regret it.

I

Two Afghan nationals who were deported after being convicted of crimes are now back in Sweden after boarding evacuation flights from Kabul.

The two men were immediately arrested at Arlanda airport in Stockholm upon entry back into the country for violating their travel ban that was issued after they had served the sentences for the crimes they had committed.

Hopefully someone in the Biden Administration was taking notes. This is what happens in a country with a competent administration when someone tries to enter the country illegally.

I posted some articles. They were Afghan nationals who had settled in California and they were home visiting their families who they hadn't been able to visit for over a year due to Covid issues. They were unable to get their planned flights out. It wasn't a single group apparently but a collection of people that loosely coordinated going from any area in California with a large Afgan population.

I really think in an after action report that abandoning Bagram before the evacuations were complete will be viewed as the single biggest mistake.

a burning question is did we do that because the military really thought it didn't add much or that they said to keep it we'll need more than the 2500 already there and the POTUS didn't want to up the troops to effect the withdrawal.

it appears it was the lynch pin though and was the catalyst for the collapse of the Afghan forces (no air support) and also resulted in a major prisoner dump into the fray

That makes far more sense. Thank you for the info.
