Totally remember how we attacked Afghanistan on September 12, 2001.
On Sept 12 as soon as the airspace was reopened the first planed supposedly to fly was a C-17 taking off out of Palmdale CA. Loaded with MQ-1B Predators. Stopped in Huntsville AL to take on ordnance and then proceeded directly in theather. So yes we absolutely were moving to engage the enemy on Sept 12. Don’t bother reply with your usual parsing or hair splitting our response began immediately

WTH? We can’t even feed the people we have that are actual Americans. I have kids at school that have to take food home on Friday’s to have some for the weekend…
If that were our countries perspective we would have never allowed a soul to immigrate here. You and I probably wouldn't be Americans.

Yep, he’s going to be screwed using crunchy peanut butter as lube. He’s 100% correct but it won’t save him.
He knew it when he posted it. In the article he says he expected to be removed. And he called out the uniformed and civilian leadership wearing the uniform and in his official capacity. They really didn’t have an option. If he’s lucky they will put him aside somewhere and let him earn his retirement. But he’s only got 18 years in so I don’t see how that can happen they’d carry him for two years.

I'll bet morale in the military has never been higher. Who would actually want to be owned by this corrupted gov? I'd say the draft will be the future of the US military. All you younger folks applauding this guy's punishment should remember this.

We can but if we did the Republicans would whine about them living off teat of America.

I fault Biden and his people for poor planning of the evacuation but I agree with getting out of there. We have never learned our lesson that police actions don’t work. (Vietnam ring a bell?) The Afghan government basically abdicated and left us hanging. It is a medieval barbaric society and the Taliban are like cockroaches. Can’t stomp em out. Try to carpet bomb them and they’ll just go to the mountains and wait you out. Heck the mighty Russian Army (when they were strong) fought them for 10 years and ended up leaving. Agree with a poster on another thread. If you aren’t willing to be more barbaric than they are, you won’t beat them in a guerrilla war. And they aren’t going to fight conventionally. The funny thing is that ISIS-K (who evidently did the suicide bombing) dislikes the Taliban as much as we do. They think the Taliban is too liberal. I say keep them pinned up and let them kill each other. No more American blood for a police action.

I think our military has some serious problems. The vast majority of our flag rank officers came up through their company grade years in peacetime where it was purely politics that got them advanced to field grade. By the time the shooting started they were out of the line of fire on battalion/brigade/division staffs still playing politics. Current field grade Os came up getting shot at and watching their troops being killed and maimed, we might see more questioning coming from them.

I've heard it said and believe it's true: You cannot in this day and time win a limited war on foreign soil. (That probably goes for the South China Sea too)

The whole bureaucracy has become politicized..DOJ and FBI, Pentagon, CIA, CDC, all the Departments. To some extent they always were. but took off like a rocket with Obama.
For a nation that is so evenly politically divided, sure seems like they control the highest bureaucratic postions.

I think that would be very healthy and makes me hope for the military leadership a decade from now. But I don’t want to see more of them commit career suicide like the LTC here. I hope this guy had a plan before he committed ritual career Seppuku in a very public fashion.

I hope he did it solely out of being heartbroken and had no plan.

I expect we’ll see a purge in the officer ranks over the next 2-3 years, the stage has already been set to clear out the non conformists.

You shouldn't be involved in a "limited war" at all. You either need to be involved in a war, or you don't. There is no such thing as a "limited war".

Reminds me of the the USS Theodore Roosevelt commander speaking out.
