It's very likely Trump have done some things differently, different administrations usually do things a little differently. But more importantly, the Taliban probably would have been hesitant to rub our faces in it since Trump was kind of a loose cannon. I don't understand this narrative that's circulating that Trump signed a withdrawal agreement - so we had to do it in the most embarrassing way possible. I just don't see how that's going to fly with rational people.

Allegedly 81 million people voted for Biden, so I'm not sure how many rational people are out there.

White House Withdrawal Messaging Shifts From ‘The Afghans Are Ready to Lead’ to ‘They’ll Never Be Ready’

Kabul-Afghanistan-Airport.jpg

Over the course of the last week, the Taliban have taken the national capital of Kabul and effectively control the entire country outside of Kabul’s airport.

As the situation on the ground deteriorates rapidly, the Biden administration’s reason for leaving appears to be transforming from “the Afghanis are ready to lead” to “the Afghanis will never be ready to lead.”

Biden and prominent members of his administration have for months been making the case that the U.S. could finally leave after two decades in country because the Afghan government had the capability to hold off the Taliban without U.S. support. Now, in the White House’s telling, it is the Afghan military’s failure to do just that which justifies U.S. withdrawal.

Talking points being distributed to Democrats by the White House concede that “the administration knew there was a distinct possibility that Kabul would fall to the Taliban,” but continue to maintain that “it was not an inevitability.” The speed with which Kabul fell is further proof that Biden made the right decision in pulling out, the talking points state.

Got 3 tankers in the vicinity now.

I lost track of the Canadian C-17 headed in the general direction (may have been over Iraq). An Australian military Airbus looks to be landing in Dubai and another KC-135 taking off there. All those tankers make you think it's getting interesting about now - they must be passing fuel to somebody.

If Biden cared about this country he would resign..he obviously doesn't have the endurance or cognitive ability...that's my assessment there is obviously something wrong with him.

Especially since we left them well armed. I don't have any affinity to that part of the world and I hate to see the bloodbath that will happen there, but they're not like us, and we will never change their way of life and the brutality that they live by.
That's a pretty broad brush to paint with. I think there are those there that DO want a better life, and definitely those that were helping our soldiers fall into this category. The women there have no hope as far as I can tell as apparently islamic law allows the men to basically kill them at will. The 'transgression' doesn't matter. I cannot imagine being so scared that I would attempt to hold onto the outside of a jet aircraft that is taking off. There are good people everywhere. There are shitheads everywhere (insert Omar's picture here). To abandon those that helped us like this is unconscionable. I pray for them. I hope those of you that believe in God will do the same. Those of you that don't, have a cold beer and be happy that you have that opportunity.

Are you saying a well planned and executed withdrawal wasn't an option?

Does this song keep running through anybody else's mind?

"50 Ways To Leave Your Lover"

"The problem is all inside your head"
She said to me
"The answer is easy if you
Take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle
To be free
There must be fifty ways
To leave your lover"

She said, "It's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning
Won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself
At the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways
To leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover"

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Ooh, slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

She said, "It grieves me so
To see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do
To make you smile again"
I said, "I appreciate that
And would you please explain
About the fifty ways?"

She said, "Why don't we both
Just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning
You'll begin to see the light"
And then she kissed me
And I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways
To leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

How Reliable Is the Perspective of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin?

Charlie, I have a slight disagreement with your assessment that the only person who should resign over the disaster in Afghanistan is President Joe Biden. Indeed, as Harry Truman declared, the buck stops with the president.

But… there’s at least some past evidence indicating Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s ability to clearly assess a gathering threat is… less than ideal.
Early in 2014, Obama’s intelligence advisers told him that ISIS was of marginal importance. According to administration officials, General Lloyd Austin, then the commander of Central Command, which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, told the White House that the Islamic State was “a flash in the pan.” This analysis led Obama, in an interview with The New Yorker, to describe the constellation of jihadist groups in Iraq and Syria as terrorism’s “jayvee team.” (A spokesman for Austin told me, “At no time has General Austin ever considered isil a ‘flash in the pan’ phenomenon.”)

Wow. Talk about sheep with anyone that "approves," much less "strongly approves."

I look at it a different way...only 12% approve. If 45% of Americans are team Biden then that means 73% of Biden supporters are not with him on this. I'm actually kinda surprised/encouraged by this.
