It was pointed out a little under 20 years ago that not having a passport isn’t an obstacle to re-entry however state absolutely knows where everyone is. And if they are covert they don’t go on the damn news and indicate that they may not have an accurate count. That would guarantee they are MORONS!

The consequences of this war and the way the US left so many Afghan allies to fend for themselves will be felt for generations to come. Just as in Germany post World War 1, thousands of young Afghan children will grow up in poverty, violence, and resentment, dreaming of revenge. Not at the Taliban but at the US, it will be misplaced anger as in Germany. That part of the World needs little motivation to be angry with the US and we just gave them plenty of ammunition. I get that the Taliban could have easily prevented all of this but the US has been at war there for 20 years, an entire generation has only known US occupation and now collapse. They haven't known just how difficult life will be under a very oppressive regime. It only takes one zealot.
