His high school is pretty much literally on the Tennessee-Alabama state line. If you compare Tennessee's and Alabama's rosters, Alabama has many more Freshman/Sophomore linebackers who are up and coming to compete against. Tennessee doesn't have as many. They also have Jerod Askew and Marlon Walls and Mitchell-Thornton coming in as Linebacker recruits. In the Tampa 2, from what I've read, the linebackers are key. I have a hard time...okay, check that, a REALLY hard time understanding why a High school recruit would say no to a program who is rebuilding with a brand new young coach who is a players coach, and a staff that is a NFL experienced and systematically knowledgeable. I mean, Tennessee sells itself. And the opportunity to walk the Vol Walk every Saturday, play in front of 100,000+ every Saturday (which VERY few stadiums exist that hold that many), in a sea of orange. The coach is proven to play freshmen immediately. I know Bama is a great program, and I'm sure that he would play. But, to be a Vol in this new era....he could really be part of something great. Plus, Knoxville is closer to him than Tuscaloosa...save gas money man! You ain't making the millions yet!

It's funny how all of these people say why would a kid go somewhere that already has tons of frosh and soph LB's but we want kids who want to compete. If he wants to go to Bama to compete for a position shouldn't we want the kid even more than say he shouldn't go there because of competition?

I want him at UT, I just think it's funny how people act sometimes. "We want players who aren't scared of competition." "Why would he go there if they already have frosh and soph players?" It's just comical.

"It was real cool when they took us to the stadium and sorta showed us what it would be like on gameday. We watched a highlight reel on the jumbotron. That was impressive and got me excited," Patrick said. "It was the first time I really understood what it was going to be like for me next year when I go to college. It was cool because I got that feel that I usually do during the high school season but next year it will be on another level. Everything football related at Alabama is impressive. Whether it is the facilities, locker room or just the coaches. Everything there is first class.

"I talked to Coach Saban today and he asked me how I felt about Alabama and the direction they were going. I told him I felt really, really good. I know they are a good program and only going to get better. He seemed to like that answer. He discussed academics with me and we went over just the usual stuff but it was a good meeting and I like Coach a lot. He's a good guy on and off the field. I know he's trying to make me a better player and person."

"I have Auburn (1-16), USC (1-23) and then Miami (1-30) and that's it for my visits. You could say that's my final schools but I'm sorta looking at a few others but those are the main ones," Patrick said. "I'm going to announce at my school on signing day. I don't have a leader yet because I want to take my visits first. I'll know more after the visits and I get a chance to compare all the schools."

Bama really isnt stacked at LB. They have Mclain and Hightower returning and look for Harris to start next year. Mclain is probably done after next year so that means DH moves to the middle and Tana or Nico takes over SLB. Another possible move is DH to jack lb which makes room for everyone. Really just my opinion but you never know.

“Tennessee’s coaches know they’ve got a late start, but they’re making a push,” Chiefs coach Shawn Peek said. “Tana won’t show his hand or hint where he’s going. I’m not sure he knows right now. The only thing for sure is that he had good visits to Alabama and Auburn and the Southern Cal trip this weekend is locked in.”
