Tebow

I have always brought up, and repeatedly insisted upon, cannibalism when I have proposed; and, when some turn and walk away because they do not want to be cannibals, I ensure to let them walk away without explaining that it was a metaphor.

It always amazes me when people don't bother to do a small amount of research. You and I clearly believe different things but I am sure we both know why we believe them.

I read the Bible daily; work through it from cover to cover and start over again.

So, you would rather believe that a virgin can be with child than accept that story as an allegory, along with all the other 'miracles' as well (men being raised from the dead)?

If Jesus went out to the desert and wandered alone, who told of the stories? Did Jesus come back and tell his disciples, "I could have had all the worldly glory, but since I am not proud, I turned it down"? Not proud...?

None of these 'miracles' were recorded by anyone who was not trying to push the agenda; the Romans, who recorded everything, never recorded Jesus's Crucifixion, nor any of his miracles that were supposedly witnessed by many.

This theme is present throughout the NT, and a very good point.

I believe you and respect your opinions. We disagree on things but you take the time to read think and decided for yourself as do I. I would rather have a discussion with you than the Christian who never opens a book.

I have a pretty high interest in Philosophy of Religion. Knowing text is pretty instrumental; also, I think they are great stories of literary merit.

I know you do. If I recall correctly, your concentration is in Philosophy of Religion. Although, I like philosophy of religion, I have stronger interests in other fields of philosophy. There is no way I could consistently reread obvious works of fictions (religious based) once I have deemed them as such.

I am curiously interested as to how such narratives have such a stranglehold on the behavior of persons and peoples.

Over the next four years, I will be writing one thesis, three qualifying papers, and a dissertation.

Any ideas as to what you might choose for any or all of them? Are you in a four year program or are you going to attend a different school for your PhD?

I have not decided yet whether I will just transition to the PhD program here or go elsewhere. Ultimately, I would like to have my PhD from either UChicago or Harvard; however, those are highly selective.

For my thesis and dissertation I will stick to Phil Religion topics: mainly, how it is that the Problem of Evil can be overcome, what that means to traditional religious notions of God, and, then, ultimately what that means to morality.

For my QPs, I pretty much want to stick to Just War Theory, Philosophy of Foreign Policy, and Ethical Conduct in War.

I wish you the best of luck on your endeavors. I'd like a copy of you thesis whenever you finish it in a couple years. I have always been fascinated by the Problem of Evil. The best argument I have read thus far for overcoming the Problem of Evil was by Hick.

Ah, I love international relations (minored in Political Science as well). Game theory especially. Applied ethics to war is tough.

I can certainly make that available for you, then.

The applied ethics, particularly mil. ethics, is an endeavor I enjoy.
