I'm going to laugh though when Kennedy's scheme to change how vacant seats are handled backfires and Repub gets his seat.

So Obama called him the greatest senator of our time. Pretty harsh insult for a man that just passed hours ago.

Can't recall the left outwardly celebrating the death of a Republican at nearly the same magnitude as we see here.

It's piling on at this point. Let it go.

I agree. All you evil republicans should just take a ride on the bridge to Chappaquiddick Island.

Let us face facts, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, had he been a republican he would have been vilified. The left would have condemned him after his actions and responsibility in the death of another human being. He showed no compassion for the woman what so ever, just self preservation. They gave and continue to give him a pass because of his family line and party affiliation. Had he been on the other side of the isle you would see just as much outward celebration of his demise.

I don't believe it right to speak ill of the dead so I have avoided posting here, but had to reply to your insinuation that a portion of the left wouldn't react in a similar way which is laughable.

I agree with the part in bold by the way.

I don't condone the celebration but apparently you don't remember the reaction RE: Tony Snow.

I recall liberal media types commenting on what a nice guy he was.

I don't remember anything remotely approaching the absolute giddiness with which Sen. Kennedy's death has been met.

Look, I didn't particularly like Kennedy's politics. He was simply too predictable for my tastes and was literally liberal about everything, as though it was his job to just adopt the most left position of the Senate on every issue.

I like to see independent thought from the left and the right and in my view if you are in there that long we ouught to be able to point to a number of occassions where you broke awy from your party or your ideology and just said "This doesn't make any sense to me" and then vote accordingly. And I can't recall Kennedy ever doing that.

Didn't care for the lifestyle, either. And didn't care for the caricature he had become.

But he did show up for those battles, he did the work, and people are just delighted that he died and I don't get that.

Ahhh...and with this we have LG's obligatory "us versus them" appearance.

Not just politicians?

Jerry Falwell was pretty much blown from the right after he died and he was a slimeball of the first order.

I didn't like Tony Snow's politics but did not know the man and assume that those Democrats and liberal media folks who talked about what a nice guy he was when he died knew what they were talking about.

Chappaquidick is pretty awful but it was 40 years ago. Kennedy was apparently a lush and battled some demons.

But it is pretty evident here that the reason so many take such utter delight in the death of the man is because of his politics and I think that is just shameful.
