Ted Kennedy dead at 77

I'm not going to sit here and defend Kennedy or what he did, and yes, it is very divisive.

But my point is there are plenty of divisive figures on both sides, and depending on the political beliefs espoused by said figures determines in large part how they are viewed by the other side, in life or death.

I would also say, in response to the Tony Snow example, that I found much of the commentary on the far left to be disgusting and vile.

Damn every last one of them!

I don't. He's one senator from an ultra liberal state. If he's not there, someone similar would be.

I'm pissed that the US Senate is one of the most exclusive groups in the country and that slimeball was a member even after killing another American. If he was on the other side of the aisle, I'd still think of the entire Kennedy clan as slimeballs.

LULZ at the whole Falwell comparison. 2 completely diff. things. funny they'll mention falwell, but forget snow. interesting Chris Matthews this morning on the Today show was pretty much saying that TK ran the nation. As CM put it "TK was the QB, now Obama has to step up and be the QB". it was truly disgusting

Ask the families of the victims of 911 what they thought when probably the most influential religious figure in this country said we basically had it coming.

And FWIW, I found what the left said about Snow disgusting.

I just can't think of any commentary about Kennedy's shenanigans that I would call too disgusting or too vile. The man killed another human by being reckless. There are no words too awful in this case.

Falwell the most influential? Come on. The guy had a following, but it was comprised primarily of similar minded lunatics. He's no different than Obama's buddy.

He, along with Ted Haggard, had weekly telecons with Bush Administration officials during his first term. He had over 1 million followers in the moral majority, founded a megachurch, and founded a christian university of which was a direct line to government positions in the Bush administration. This is to say nothing of the fact that Bush owes his entire first term to Falwells mobilzation of evangelical voters.

Find me one other religious figure in this country that was more influential.

If you are referring to Obama's lunatic reverend, it isn't even a close comparison on the influence scale.

you're overstating his influence, but you might be right. Farrakhan probably rivals him. Senior Catholic priest is probably equally influential. The Reverends Al and Jesse (yes that was a joke).

From Graham...

After refusing to join the moral majority of the most influential evangilist of our time...

"I'm for morality, but morality goes beyond sex to human freedom and social justice. We as clergy know so very little to speak with authority on the Panama Canal or superiority of armaments. Evangelists cannot be closely identified with any particular party or person. We have to stand in the middle in order to preach to all people, right and left. I haven't been faithful to my own advice in the past. I will be in the future."http://www.volnation.com/forum/#cite_note-baptisthistory-6

You fools - the most influential people in the world today are Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh (evil-mongers).

I'll concede that, but I don't think I am overstating the influence Falwell had.
