Tee Martin - what is happening now.

Leaning that way as well...Haden will ante up the money and kick Kiffen's azz to upgrade Tee's coaching duties.

Long shot he will take the UT job...but let's hope.

Yall are severely overthinking this. Its great news it hasnt come out yet. If he wasnt taking it we would know. Jones and Tee arent Kiffin. He flies home tomor, tells his players then its announced. Plus why stay till tomor and not get back to LA to recruit with the dead period coming in a few days. Makes no sense. He is probably showing his wife and kids around and showing her potential neighborhoods.

If he chooses USC and Lane Kiffin over UT for similar money terms, after parading his family through the airport and the fanfare he received, then that doesn't seem very VFL to me.

Doesn't bode well for his character, although its just one day. It certainly is perplexing if he does turn the job down since he has been vocal about wanting to "come home".

I'm not trying to be negative, and I hope I'm wrong. But I have to agree that Tee would have accepted by now if he were going to take the job. Personally, I didn't care for the comment "I'm here". All the other coaches are "here" and are on board. If he prefers to hitch his ride with Kiffen, that speaks for itself, and he's no longer VFL. Again, I hope I'm wrong on all accounts.

Like with Strong and everyone else we have interviewed prior to Jones, we are in a recruiting crunch, yet Tee is going back to discuss things less than 7 days from the dead period. Doesn't sound promising.

I'm thinking he stays. If it was a promotion he would come. He has more visibility at USCw. Also, Kiffin is known for offence and the more time under him will look better on a resume. Just a guess.

He is far from stable out there. It will be a promotion unless UT wants to pay a buyout. CBJ is also known for offense and Lane will be lucky to survive next year. If he was staying we would know and he wouldnt still be here, he would be headed home to get back to recruiting.

Actually its very promising. I really hope you dont believe he's flying back to discuss things. He was offered days ago and Skeeter has already said its done. Whats so hard to understand that he has accepted and wants his players to hear it from him? Sounds pretty cut and dry. If he wasnt accepting it we would already know.

Gonna talk it over with the family tonight....kids and wife must like being in LA. Good thing is they haven't been there long.

Yea I could see that too. I just don't feel good about it for some reason. So you think we're offering some sort of promotion to avoid paying a buyout?

I agree. It could go either way, but I think word would be getting out that he had turned it down. Now, he might get back out to LA and get another offer from Kiffy, but it looks good at the moment.

Regardless of Tee's decision, he should still be revered for the national championship he brought to Knoxville and the years he gave us as a VOL. His decision will be what he believes is best for him and his family. I will hold no ill will toward him nor Coach Jones regardless of the outcome. While Tee is the sentimental choice, there are many other great coaches and high level recruiters out there for Butch to choose from.

Tee is a gentleman. He will go back and tell his players and resign in person. That's the right thing to do. Don't burn bridges. It could come back and bite you later in life. I'll be surprised if he doesn't end up back at UT in the next couple of days.

It's possible he brought his family here trying to convince them about the move. I firmly believe T is sold on coming but the wife has to be as well. Today may have been more about her than the football side of things.

Thats just what has been mentioned to keep from paying a buyout and to give him a promotion of sorts. Im trusting Skeeter on this one and would be shocked if he's not a Vol. Also if he was offered days ago and hasnt accepted I wouldnt have let Hinshaw go yet

Agreed!

Tee is a first class person, it's a family decision. I think he will come back and I hope he does, but he is a VFL period and anyone that's say's otherwise is nuts. I'm sure no matter what he decided he would be first class and want to tell them in person, they still have a home there and I'm sure things to shore up. Let him do it his way folks, Tee loves UT! GO VOLS!!

Tee said he didn't want to leave Usc, Yet when asked about the interest he said 'im here'. .

Would love to have Tee, but this is looking and sounding too much like Strong to have a good ending.

If he has to think about staying with Kiffin, then I am worried.

I believe Coach Jones will make a good choice if Tee does not come.

It just seems strange that Tee is taking days to decide on Tennessee position coach job, the place where he was, and is, a hero, but Coach Butch Jones only took hours to make the decision to become the HEAD COACH because he wanted to be a VOL!

Letting him go back to LA without a deal is a mistake imo. I don't feel good about him going back there. I really hope I'm wrong.

I think CBJ has wanted to be here ever since he walked into Neyland last year.

As far as Tee goes, I think bruin nailed it on the head. He is trying to persuade the family right now and hopefully the trip out here today did just that.

Take the fan blinders off. The man has a family and career to think about. Tee will be VFL no matter what.
