I wanna know why someine wont do something about it, and fire cheek.
If Tee had the offer a few days ago, it seems the reason he brought the wife on his trip to Knoxville was to sell her on the idea of returning. Moving at a time when they are in a great place for both of their careers would have required a major sacrifice on her part. Can't blame a man for being willing to sacrifice for his wife. It would be great to have Tee back some day, but timing is everything, and I can't hate on him for the decision.
Let's stop and think about this, he won a NC so we can't talk badly about him argument. I think there's a guy by the name of Philip Fulmer who is probably in the top 5 of all time vols to be bashed. That man bleeds a kind of orange Tee Martin will never be able to. He won a National Championship for us too, yet, he is qualified to be subject to the bashing but Tee isn't, when Tee has turned this University down, and we weren't even his first pick coming out of HS in the first place? That's not fair. If we offered him the same amount of money, moving here makes sense because of the considerably lower cost of living. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Knoxville may be safer than LA as well. I have NO idea why he wouldn't want to come here, other than this wife, but let's not pretend this man is immune to criticism. I will appreciate him for all time for 1998, but that was 14 years ago. Tee Martin will be a Vol legend, but I do NOT view him as a VFL.
People might want to keep in mind how WE (Tennessee) treated him in the past
We have NO RIGHT to slam him when basically our program treated him like crap when he wanted to coach here earlier
WE WERE not a class act when our NC winning QB was not invited to coach here until NOW
I find NOTHING official on the internet regarding Tee turning us down. You people are so quick to jump on anything you hear. I can't believe you are trashing someone over a tweet that is probably not true.
If you get a chance, got back and listen to the podcast of the EA Show this morning and I think he sums it up PERFECTLY.
1. When DD's staff had a mass exodus and Tee was at KY, HE reached out to UT and offered to come on board, his call was never returned.
2. As much as we all despise Kiffin, HE was the one to offer Tee a chance to coach at a much larger level than what he was. This has helped establish him as a recruiter and position coach.
3. His job perception is based on his performance as a position coach and the players he's helped put into the NFL (hmmm, let's see, Randall Cobb at KY, the top receiver in the nation at USC, plus the recruits he has coming in), and the recruits he's able to land.
I'd say Tee IS showing loyalty...to the person that helped spark his career when his OWN university turned him away. I can't stand Lame Kiffin, but put yourself in his shoes, this is the choice he's made to better his career at this time, and who are we to say he made the wrong choice.
