Tee Martin - what is happening now.

I wanna know why someine wont do something about it, and fire cheek.

I hope it is being done. It takes time to remove someone like that. I am hoping his days are numbered and he won't be here next fall.

We also need to put the AD back under the president instead of the chancelor. The acedemic side should have nothing to do with the atheletic side. Conflict of interest in my opinion.

fire Hart and Cheek, bring in Fulmer as A.D. We can always have someone behind the scenes to help Fulmer with the business side of being an AD....I just want someone in charge that as a real passion for this University, its students and athletes and its alumni

Can't blame Tee if he stays.

USC has the #1 recruiting class currently, with five 5*s, 3 of the #1 recruits at their positions, and the rest 4*s.

We have to beg 3*s to come here. :banghead2:

Hopefully this will begin to change in our favor.

Let's stop and think about this, he won a NC so we can't talk badly about him argument. I think there's a guy by the name of Philip Fulmer who is probably in the top 5 of all time vols to be bashed. That man bleeds a kind of orange Tee Martin will never be able to. He won a National Championship for us too, yet, he is qualified to be subject to the bashing but Tee isn't, when Tee has turned this University down, and we weren't even his first pick coming out of HS in the first place? That's not fair. If we offered him the same amount of money, moving here makes sense because of the considerably lower cost of living. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Knoxville may be safer than LA as well. I have NO idea why he wouldn't want to come here, other than this wife, but let's not pretend this man is immune to criticism. I will appreciate him for all time for 1998, but that was 14 years ago. Tee Martin will be a Vol legend, but I do NOT view him as a VFL.

Well said OP.

Unfortunately I expect some stupid comments revoking his VFL status. I already have seen some questioning it at the thought of him not taking the job.

Tee has a family now. It is a family decision, not a decision for a single guy. What would you do if you were in his shoes and you didn't think the move was right for your wife and children or your wife was against it?? Give him a break!!! :ermm:

If Tee had the offer a few days ago, it seems the reason he brought the wife on his trip to Knoxville was to sell her on the idea of returning. Moving at a time when they are in a great place for both of their careers would have required a major sacrifice on her part. Can't blame a man for being willing to sacrifice for his wife. It would be great to have Tee back some day, but timing is everything, and I can't hate on him for the decision.

If momma ain't happy............

I find NOTHING official on the internet regarding Tee turning us down. You people are so quick to jump on anything you hear. I can't believe you are trashing someone over a tweet that is probably not true.

If you get a chance, got back and listen to the podcast of the EA Show this morning and I think he sums it up PERFECTLY.

1. When DD's staff had a mass exodus and Tee was at KY, HE reached out to UT and offered to come on board, his call was never returned.
2. As much as we all despise Kiffin, HE was the one to offer Tee a chance to coach at a much larger level than what he was. This has helped establish him as a recruiter and position coach.
3. His job perception is based on his performance as a position coach and the players he's helped put into the NFL (hmmm, let's see, Randall Cobb at KY, the top receiver in the nation at USC, plus the recruits he has coming in), and the recruits he's able to land.

I'd say Tee IS showing loyalty...to the person that helped spark his career when his OWN university turned him away. I can't stand Lame Kiffin, but put yourself in his shoes, this is the choice he's made to better his career at this time, and who are we to say he made the wrong choice.

I wonder if cbj low balled Tee?
Just to keep the look to the fans that he tried.

I don't see him flying him and his family out to say no.

Could've stayed at home and stopped any speculation to his current employment and current recruits.

People might want to keep in mind how WE (Tennessee) treated him in the past
We have NO RIGHT to slam him when basically our program treated him like crap when he wanted to coach here earlier

WE WERE not a class act when our NC winning QB was not invited to coach here until NOW

Its not really fair to judge an entire program/institution based the actions of one man; a man who is no longer involved with said institution.

No offense, but your opinion is myopic.

University of Tennessee Football page on FB is saying that he is staying at USC.. I know it's not from Tee's mouth, but they have been pretty accurate so far.

He's showing loyalty to the man that he publicly criticized for leaving the way he did. It's irrelevant if he reached out to UT if Dooley didn't want him here. It doesn't matter if Saban reached out here to be Recruiting Coordinator, if Butch doesn't want him, we dont have him. It's NOT the AD's, Chancellor's, or Booster's job to hire coaches, it's the HC's job. You hire a HC and let him hire who he wants to, and that's understood because you hired him.
If Tee was a VFL we're not having the conversation we're having right now. He was/is WANTED here. HIGHLY WANTED here, and everything fits, except now he doesn't want to be here. I'm sorry if I see this different than everyone else, but VFL's don't turn down Tennessee. Dooley isn't a VFL, and he's the one who turned down Tee, NOT the University of Tennessee, and to think otherwise is bogus. He has a chance to come back home, establish a family life, have a certain layer of job security as long as he does his job, like Jay Graham.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, but I do see some of your points. I just tend to look at it from a different perspective.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, at least someone on here is capable of having a level-headed conversation without name calling and berating the other person.
