Tee Martin - what is happening now.

AD is apparently leaking the 500k number as well. It is asinine and if that is the case then I think we should rethink holding back criticism.

Money isn't everything, you have to respect the mans decision.

In all honesty, I don't have to respect it. I don't respect it. The same way I didn't respect Dooley's decision to spurn him the first time. If what's being reported about him wanting 500k, then money IS everything. He Cost of Living drastically decreased from LA to K-Ville, plus we were going to close to double his salary, and move him back home. So, no, I don't respect his decision.

Don't know which mod merged the threads, but THANK YOU, was getting a bit tiring go through the 5 or 6 different ones.

I don't pretend to know why T wouldn't come back. All I can say is that if Kiffin gets fired next year and T found himself looking for employment, not sure he would be welcomed back for a staff postion here with this head coach. Not saying it's right but I know in business if you turn an offer down you seldom have a chance in the future, especially if you were offered a significant raise.

For all of you criticizing Tee. Would you move your family cross country to go to work for the family business in your home town, knowing that said business is now being run by a guy you know nothing about? Personally, I'd question Tee's judgment and objectivity if he did. Folks, timing is everything. Now is not the time for Tee. Get over it!

He's showing loyalty to the man that he publicly criticized for leaving the way he did. It's irrelevant if he reached out to UT if Dooley didn't want him here. It doesn't matter if Saban reached out here to be Recruiting Coordinator, if Butch doesn't want him, we dont have him. It's NOT the AD's, Chancellor's, or Booster's job to hire coaches, it's the HC's job. You hire a HC and let him hire who he wants to, and that's understood because you hired him.
If Tee was a VFL we're not having the conversation we're having right now. He was/is WANTED here. HIGHLY WANTED here, and everything fits, except now he doesn't want to be here. I'm sorry if I see this different than everyone else, but VFL's don't turn down Tennessee. Dooley isn't a VFL, and he's the one who turned down Tee, NOT the University of Tennessee, and to think otherwise is bogus. He has a chance to come back home, establish a family life, have a certain layer of job security as long as he does his job, like Jay Graham.

Its not about Tee. Its about his family. SoCal is a better place to coach right now. Simple as that. I respect the man and his opinion. He holds UT high, but does not owe it anything. Can't wait to see him as a head coach.

what do normal assistants get paid, Tee wanted $500,000

He is just working us for a raise at USC. He does not have the resume to pull that kind of money. Good Luck to Tee and go get Hinshaw.

And by the way Tee, don't call us next December, we'll call you.

If you're a parent, what's the better place to raise a child? L.A. or Knoxville? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that LA is 5x more dangerous than Knoxville. I think it has to do with whatever he heard when he spoke to Lane after the meeting he had with Butch... None of us will ever know unless they want us to know, but none of it adds up to me.

He supposedly makes 200k at USC, and we were willing to give him 375k and pay his 250k buyout from USC.

Very fair offer considering the cost of living at the different locales. If he turns that down he does not want to be here. I would see what he takes next December if he is interested. Otherwise, there are good coaches out there to be had.

It adds up perfectly. Tee said he was happy in SoCal and that he was not thinking of moving. He came to meet a coach who wanted to offer him a job. Took the interview, respected the process, talked it over with his family and said no thank you. Those looking for a conspiracy will not find it here.

Not saying it's a conspiracy, not looking for a theory. I'm simply saying that him being a "VFL" and turning down this opportunity do NOT add up.

I just don't get it. First I haven't seen anything solid that Tee has declined besides the TSR tweet. Second its his choice to make. He came here as an athlete and helped bring us a NC. He's done more for us by winning that NC than we could ever dream of doing for him.

With the way people are acting on here I hope he hasn't actually decided and was waiting to see what how people responded after he left. I hope he's sitting in SoCal reading this very board to gauge how the fans really feel about him when he's not around. It would serve you all right that he would read your VERY negative comments and decide he's better served by staying with Kiffin than coming back to coach for a 2-faced fan base that feels like he owes them even more than he's already given them.

Tee had the opportunity to come help resurrect his alma mater, which has sank to all time lows. Part of the reason we are where we are is because of his current employer. He still choose to spurn us and further disgrace us in the public eye.

I supported his decision to go work with kiffin, but now I can't look at him in the same positive light.

He may be a VFL, but once you get married, its not about Tee. Its about his wife and family. Your family is more important than UT football......so is his. Simple as that.

USC is going to be a trainwreck at the end of next year. Hopefully Tee comes home. Sad thing is the university has treated him poorly so who knows what he will do. Tee is and will always be a legend in my eyes. He's the man that led us to a National Championship. The same can't be said for Manning!

Good gracious enough of this kind of stupid talk. Martin was the QB of the NC team and was great, but he was NOT the reason we won the NC and there's no reason to bash Manning about it.

Yes because I'm sure Martin is raising his kids in the ghetto of L.A.
