Tee Martin - what is happening now.

Tee had the opportunity to come help resurrect his alma mater, which has sank to all time lows. Part of the reason we are where we are is because of his current employer. He still choose to spurn us and further disgrace us in the public eye.

I supported his decision to go work with kiffin, but now I can't look at him in the same positive light.

seriously? are all Vol fans this immature?

If Tee wanted to "spurn" us then he wouldn't have even wasted his time flying out here to interview for the position. It's not like we were calling Tee up during all the other staff openings we had in the past. We spurned him by letting USC hire him without even bothering to call him for an interview. I personally don't blame him for turning us down.

That's because people like you buy way too much into this "VFL" stuff.

You don't know me, and I would respect your arguments if you respected mine. I haven't come on here and said anything negative about you, I'm stating my opinion on an issue that has proven to have people on both sides of the fence.

I'm not going to fall prey and attack your character flaws, simply, I'm going to retort your response to my argument. If "people like me" buy way too much into this VFL stuff, why would Butch have kept it around, and why would it be such a big deal with our current players, coaches, etc if it weren't a big deal?

Can you really say that's the same "We" that turned him down though? That was pure Dooley. He didn't want crap to do with 99 percent of ex vols, somehow Jay Graham slipped through the cracks and made it in. Butch Jones has EMBRACED ex-players, and I don't think should be considered in the "we" that turned him down. This is a new time, and I don't think the "we turned him down last time" argument is legitimate.

Really disappointed in Tee. Not only is he on a sinking ship at USC, but if he gets let go next year after Kiffin does, then I hope he doesn't come crawling back and wants the job offer a year later. He means a lot to this University and fans and for him to turn it down is sad.

He may be a VFL, but once you get married, its not about Tee. Its about his wife and family. Your family is more important than UT football......so is his. Simple as that.

I understand that, and I can't argue against that. If this is about his family not wanting to come to Tennessee and wanting to stay where they are, then that's completely fine with me, but if he didn't come here because he wanted 500k instead of 375k, then consider me out of the Tee Martin fan club.

You didn't present an argument, you presented an emotional response to an adult situation. "VFL" has nothing to do with making decisions that affect your life and your family's life. How this would affect his "VFL" status should have had absolutely NO part of this decision.

He's "VFL" because he played here, and nothing is going to change that. This coaching decision has nothing to do with "VFL", it has to do what he feels is best for his career and his family. You're trying to connect dots that don't exist.

He means so much that you hope he doesn't come "crawling back" in a year?

Some of you seriously need to grow up.

Tee disapointed me and the rest of the Vol nation, worst of all he is staying with Kiffen, i like to think he is loyal to his players not Kiffen, owell,.,.

No not all, but apparently a good portion of them are.

It all boils down to the AD (Hart). There's a reason we ended up with our 6th coach on the list. Coaches are intrigued by this job until they meet Hart. Same situation with Tee. Why in the world wouldn't he wanna come back here where he has won a championship and would be worshiped? Not to mention his kids are here...

This needs to be fixed ASAP bc we are on a sinking ship.

Not knocking Butch Jones or his staff, just the AD (Hart)

I agree it is not the same "we". That being said, he has another job now, he likes where he lives, he gets paid well; all things considered the man has a family and he is entitled to work wherever he wants to work without Volunteer fans acting like a bunch of spoiled kids because they didn't get their way with this hire by trashing the dude. Maybe one day he will change his mind. Time to put our man pants on and move on.

Too much smart in this post.

People who use logic and don't bash someone for making a decision they feel is best for their career and family?

Making less money at what is now a shaky place to work as compared coming back to your alma mater where he would be more than just another number is an exercise in logic?

LOL...yes UT is obviously an awesome place to work right now, judging by all the top names falling over themselves to take the HC job, and we already have a good portion of our fanbase bashing Jones before he even coaches a down.

And how do you know he's just "another number" at USC? You go to the meetings? Talk to the players he coaches?

As I have stated before, if he has made the decision for the betterment for his family because he didn't want to uproot them again for the 2nd time to move to another coast in under a year, I'm behind that and understand that. However, the reason he said no, that is being reported mind you, is that he wanted 500k to coach here. We offered 375k, and he's making 200kish right now. That set of reports is what I'm basing my opinion on right now. If he chose not to come here because we couldn't give him a 150pct raise to COME BACK HOME, then I'm not as big a fan of Tee as I was yesterday.

Jones has more guaranteed time than Kiffin does right now. Kiffin is lucky he got another year, whereas Jones has, for all intents and purposes, 3 guaranteed years to work here. Tee could be on the next one smoking next year scrambling for a position somewhere.

Watch out, we got the immature police over here! Says the person that has a model as his avatar like a 13 year old boy has a pinup on his bedroom wall.

"We" didn't spurn him, Dooley did. That era is over and its time to start a new. He had a chance to help change things, he choose not to. I never bashed him or said I didn't still respect him. I just can't look at him in the same way.

Ive been away since yesterday and this is the first post i came to. I take it that TEE isn't coming now. Are we 100% sure he isn't coming or is this another thread like the threads that we were getting you know who as a HC. If Kiffin trained him he might take off overnight like he did. hahahahah
