All cred to TB for this idea, but I wanna hear the things that didn't make it onto Tony's show last week. Anyone have great stories about what a jerk Dooley was while here at Tennessee? Any Run-in's or second -hand stuff??
Mine.:loco: Dool's would get his hair cut at same place as me. The staff shared that he was an a**. NOBODY was to come up to him during his time there, talk football, or address him by name. He wanted to be "anonymous" and would NEVER sign an autograph for staff or others who would recognized him there. I'm not saying I would try to get an autograph or anything while a person is on his own time (another story for another time) but Geesh. And only one person was ever allowed to touch his hair, and other staff were to not acknowledge him either. He thought alot of himself for sure! BTW several other staff and former players go there and they are all exact opposite in their behavior. True story. Others???

I have a friend whose husband works with the program. He essentially said that Dooley chewed out a coworker for being dressed "incorrectly". I'll just summarize all these sentiments in this way---Nick Saban is no choir boy but at least he wins! The fact that Dooley was a jerk just made it easier to cut ties!

Heard a story that he once went up into the media department and *****ed at the media guys for making Tennessee look in an "unfavorable" light.

can we get a publisher on the phone? this would make a great book. would be even funnier than dooleys press conferences themselves.

The one about him telling the meat butcher at Butler and Bailey's he's "cutting the meat all wrong" was classic. As was the brick mason's getting jumped on for too much mortar on the trowel. Like he knows...

I was cruisin' with the Dooley one night after a frat party. He had me stop the car so he could pick up a stray puppy. After picking the pup up and getting back in the car, I proceeded down the road. He waited until I got up to 50 mph, then he threw that puppy out the window.

True story (kind of).

Just a simple comment. Having worked in the people profession for 41 years I just want to make a simple statement. Not everyone is a people person. Coaches number one asset needs to be.........definitely a people person.

Not true.

Nick Saban
Steve Spurrier
Tom Osbourne

All of these guys have NCs and none of them were considered likable guys.

It helps if you win.

Dooley came over to my house with muddy shoes. He laid on the couch and I said "please don't put your muddy shoes on my couch". He started grinding them in and said "F*** your couch N***a! I'm Derek Dooley b***h!"

I think that is actually what Rick James did to Eddie and Charlie Murphy's couch. I heard Dooley liked to have people over and dominate them in basketball and then serve flapjacks.

I happen to know, for a fact, that Derek Dooley insisted on being skins when playing shirts vs skins basketball.

He took your momma out for a nice seafood dinner and never called her back...:pepper::pepper: You people are pathetic. By the way, my family and friends who actually did meet the man, and are nobodies all say the same thing. He was extremely polite and cordial to them, and had no reason to be. He's gone..he needed to be gone, but I guarandamntee you he was lot better person than a lot of you jackoffs.
