"Tell me A Story: Derek Dooley"

Visor, where did I say that Dooley had met the standard and should have kept his job? I was willing to accept that the program needed to be rebuilt for two years. This year he had the talent and experience to win games... to even compete for the East. His choices of moving to the 3-4 and hiring Sunseri were terrible. He also failed to prove he could get it done on gameday.

Spurrier just came up as an example. I never said that UT didn't have better football resources. USCe has better home recruiting. Spurrier had a much better roster to start with but had to work at building recruiting credibility at USCe.

Dooley leaves a MUCH better roster than he inherited. The next coach WILL NOT have to start 4 true Fr on the OL... or at QB. In fact, they will inherit 3 QB's with SEC level talent. Dooley inherited Simms and Bray and a couple of no names who left. They will have more than 2 legit 300 lb guys with athleticism... they will inherit 2 or 3 decently talented RB's.

When Dooley arrived, UT had no DT's. I'm not saying they didn't have any good ones... they didn't have any AT ALL. If UT goes back to the 4-3 then they have at least 6 legit DT's. LB is not good. The next coach will likely start two new comers if they go back to the 4-3.

The DB's have been under coached and disadvantaged by the system Sunseri..."ran".

Come on man face it. Dooley effed us. Inheriting Bray is better than Worley/Peterman, Bryce Brown better than Neal/Lane, D Moore/GJ/Hunter/DR better than Pig/Croom. Oline will be better . D line maybe, secondary worse. Dooley is not leaving a MUCH better roster. It may be worse depending on who leaves.

BTW, the harping negavols were STILL WRONG. If you never have the patience to let a guy make some mistakes then you will never keep a HC long enough to have success.

I might as well break it to you now... the next HC is going to make mistakes. He will probably screw up and lose winnable games. Some of you will be right back on your hobby horse... saying stupidly negative stuff rather than letting the guy create a "body of work" to evaluate in total.

If you aren't mentally capable of identifying the train wreck that was Derek Dooley, then all of your arguments ring hollow.

Quit trying to justify your nonsensical support of that loser and take an honest look at how utterly terrible and unqualified Dooley was. His "body of work" should be sufficient for this prognosis, too, alongside the common sense factor.

yeah you nailed it, I'm not going to beat a dead horse but to defend dooley is just trying to shine up a turd. Dooley has & will always suck as a coach

I used to live next door to Dooley and one night a couple of guys tried to break into his car in the driveway. Well ole Dooley went outside shot one of the guys, on the porch, wounded another and shot the getaway car as it sped off.

I thought it was over at that point, but Dooley grabbed the guy he wounded and told him to bite the curb. Dooley's younger brother was on the porch and yelled "NOOOOOOO" But alas Dooley said "say goodnight" and stomped the back of the guys head.

The cops came and arrested Dooley, and oh yea Dooley had a big swastika tattoo on his chest.

What a jerk.
