'21 Temple Transfer CB Jalen McMurray (Tennessee)

82 is our max with NCAA issues so our #s line up
I think it’s 83. We lose 10 over 5 years (the NCAA gave us credit for some we already gave up). So that’s 2 per year. Now, that being said, we just have to give up 10 over 5 years, so it could be 3 this year, 1 next year, etc., etc…as long as it adds up to 10.

But if we decide to spread it evenly, our number is 83 for the next 5 years.

We always hope that all of those that choose to be Vols have great careers, and help us win...then we wish them nothing but the very best after they've moved on; but, kids like this, that hope has a little something extra added to it...kids that see these types of opportunities, and are truly grateful and excited.

Nice ok, I’d heard 82. Maybe they thought it was 15 over 5.

2nd team freshman all american, all conference type year, followed up with a season of not having the ball thrown to his side of the field? also, since this seems to matter to people, Wuerffel Award watchlist. good kid too? and we got him cheap? lot of reasons to like this a lot. doubt he comes in thinking he's depth. great pickup
Do we really know he had less balls thrown to his side of the field his 2nd year? Actually curious. Not trying to be a jerk.

Was curious and found the North Texas - Temple game from this year. He did get beat on two TDs (one was a missed tackle), the other was a missed jump ball. I know highlights don't tell the whole story, and stats don't either especially for DBs, but that wasn't too encouraging. Could just be a bad game though.

He did fight for that ball on that one play, so there is at least that.

last group couldnt play zone at all either.

no feel or flow to it. just run to a certain spot like robots. So glad theyre all gone.

I must be missing why this a boom-worthy addition, other than the fact that we need warm bodies in the secondary. When I look at these stats, I’m far more concerned than I am impressed, especially since he seemed to be better in 2022 than in 2023. Please, someone who understands this transfer better than I do, explain to me why we’re booming here.

Maybe he was so good that they did not throw his way? Shut down corners tend to not have a lot of passes thrown their way.

Yet only gives highlights from one game 🤡

We? No, maybe the coaches have an idea that they do
Fair enough, but those same coaches have yet to recruit and/or develop a group that can overtake an entire backfield of guys that obviously (and by your own admission) couldn't do it, so skepticism seems like a fair middle ground until we see it on the field.
