We aren’t getting in.
If Bama is ranked ahead of UT, the committee is a joke.
Go back in time and beat SC. That’s the only path.CFP comittee looks closely at Ala vs UT common opponents. Rewards UT’s better SOS.
East was more dominant than west by far at least the top 3-4 teams this year - disregarding history.
UT won head to head - every recognized tiebreaker in the world looks there first. And ranks UT 6th tuesday night.
1.UGA
2. Mich
3. TCU
4. USC
5. OSU
6. Tenn
7. Ala
if that happens AND USC gets pounded by Utah (possible) and TCU gets walloped by KSU (possible) ….
Then
1. UGA
2. Mich
3. OSU
4. UT
5. Ala
UT is in…its a very longshot but not unbelievable.
Maybe not the popular view but at this point I would rather just take the NYD 6 bowl and hope for a solid win and top 5 finish.
UT's D holds them back. I'm not negative at all about what the Vols and Heupel accomplished this year. It is in fact pretty amazing all things considered. But with that D the Vols are not a championship caliber team.
I agree with you on getting in, but really -- a ""joke?"
I dislike Alabama on the best day, but you have to be honest. The Tide is a better overall team than the Vols, especially today. Yes, we beat them by 3 in the game of the year (maybe the game of the decade). It was magnificent! But, that UT team is not today's UT team and Bama had nothing like a 63 point beat down on its resume anywhere this season, and especially not in the last month of the season. It won't take a "fix" or a "joke" to rank Alabama one place ahead of UT tomorrow. I'm just happy that those responsible for the USCe travesty redeemed themselves last Saturday in Nashville. In my view, the Vols earned all of their lofty weekly rankings this season, including #1. They also "earned" the ranking they are now stuck with at the end of the season because of their collective choice to go to Columbia unfocused and mentally unprepared.
It has still been one hell of a year #2 for CJH, his staff, and the Vols players. If they stay focused, the future is very bright. Go Vols!

Does the committee have an established criteria they use?
