Tennessee -28 seems a little much.....

I still think this team averages a few less points this year than last, simply because I think the running game may be used more to control the TOP. I think it's gonna be more like a 35-7 or 35-14 dub, while rushing for 250+ yards

44-14 is where I am currently. I think our front seven takes a huge step forward this season. If the offense does take a slight step back, then it probably won't matter that much if the front seven is really good. The wild card is the secondary imo. Even mediocre play from that unit would pay huge dividends for this team.

New starting QB that we have seen really good from and really bad from in the past.
Offensive line changes/injuries.
A mostly new group of starting wide receivers.
A neutral field (Nashville...but still)

Virginia is a Power 5 team, albeit a pretty bad one. The spread is a full 4 touchdowns?!

Give me the 28 points.
You don't understand how good we are and just how awful they are

I'm going to take that bet. New transfer QB from FCS, (He is a senior), new recievers, and new offensive line. Their offense will be lucky to score. And they have returners on the Dline but new corners, and we've seen what our offense can do to corners "=toast". Plus, Tennessee is going to want to come out of the gate strong for confidence to players, and most definitely the offseason doubters, so don't expect us to play safe. We'll run, pass, stop and intercept, and in the end, it'll be a blow out. Not even sure we see Nico in the first game unless we are up by 35 with 1:34 left in the 4th and they let Nico go out and take a knee.

I was very shocked to see that it was a 4 TD spread. We are one of the higher spreads of the opening weekend. I understand they were pretty bad last year, but still...

I watched Virgina play one game last year and they were bad, I mean really bad on offense, like a bad high school team level bad.
Their D seemed respectable, but it's hard to tell because the offense they were playing aginst was also really bad.
Yeah, our D is improved. With them breaking in a new QB, I doubt they put up many points.

I don't gamble... but if I did I would be willing to go big with the Vols at that spread. UT returns a bunch of starters and adds depth to a D that will have almost everyone healthy.

Beyond that... UVA is less talented than Vandy. They're pinning their offensive hopes on a transfer QB from Monmouth. Monmouth was 5-6 as an FCS program last fall- 9th out of 13 CAA teams. He was a mediocre FCS QB on a mediocre team... and beat out everyone else UVA had. They appear to have lost most of their good players. Their projected starter at RB is a career back up from Clemson with less than 800 yds in 3 seasons.

They believe their D is better than their O... and they were a middling ACC D last fall. The strength of their D is their DL. Last fall they were 9th in the ACC in sacks and dead last in TFLs.

Take UT's "problems" then multiply by 1000 and you may be close to the challenge UVA faces.

Having a front 4 that can control the OL and pressure the QB will help the secondary so much. Im hoping all this noise about the front 7 translates into more sacks wihtout having to send LBs to get home on the QB.

We could easily have a 28 point lead on them in the 1st half.

Only concern is how the new clock rules change the overall amount of possessions and point totals.

Virginia 2021 6-6 & 2022 3-7. They have not done much to get better against ACC teams much less SEC competition. Margin could be 24 or it could be 35

Just heard that UVA is ranked 76th in the 1-133 rankings. Vandy is 3 spots ahead at 73.

The WR bullet point shouldn't even be on your list. Donte is the transfer, a good one at that, the rest have significant playing time from last season and played dang well

Let me restate....losing the Biletnikoff Trophy winner and Cedric Tillman isnt something to scorff at.

If we "only" beat Virginia 42-17 and dont cover the spread, the reaction on this site will be hysterical. Yall clearly werent paying attention from 2002 - 2021 and it shows.

I disagree Tennessee covers....Vols are loaded and i truly think the receivers will be better than last season before it's all said and done. Also look for them to run the ball more the next couple of Saturday's and keep the passing game routes and formations under wraps until til at least the Florida game. JMO.
