thanks 66...here we are again...outside looking in...ain't givin' up...oh, heck no...games to play...
GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Auburn can't win their remaining game on Saturday, otherwise even if we win two, we lose.
Vandy scored nine tonight playing its second string, and left the bases loaded three times. Auburn gets Kyle Wright after a whole day off tomorrow, and auburn threw I believe six pitchers and only scored on a three run homer. So, I wouldn't worry too much about the Tigers Saturday...
Honestly Mike, if I may call you Mike, if we are going to make a change, maybe just going ahead...nah, I can't do it...I want the young men to get there, F the adults.
I've been there, too many times, I get it.
I really don't understand how Serrano has done absolutely nothing with UT pitching. Missouri and Kentucky have had significantly better pitching than Tennessee during his tenure. As you know, the sec is the major leagues of college baseball. Vandy has at least two first rounders on the mound right now and might finish seventh in the league. It's a freaking juggernaut conference, and Serrano just seems to have no clue how to get high ceiling guys to come to school.
It has to get a guy who has major pitching credentials in the southeast. I'd go after holiday's assistant at Oklahoma state, Rob Walton, former head coach at oral Roberts. He is an awesome coach and a great person, and knows how to recruit and coach pitchers. You might not get him away from holly, but he is a can't miss coach.
Nobody understands it.
I understand it perfectly
Wish I could find the post when CDS was hired where I said he likely would fail here and it wouldn't be mean he is any less of a top 20 coach in America. Nobody believed it then but it's still the same.
No successful instate recruiting with any kind of regularity spells not being able to maximize the 11.7 which mean rosters that aren't deep enough to overcome injuries and win in the sec
As long as the NCAA keeps allowing need base money whomever the coach is is going to keep climbing a serious uphill battle. Hopefully the next coach won't make a mistake and hire a fool to run his offense that doesn't win in a mans league so they can win a some kind of respectable rate
How would the ncaa disallow need based scholarships? That's a law suit that would take all of two minutes to decide.
The ncaa has no power to tell a school how to award scholarships outside of athletics and if the ncaa disallowed members to supplement partial aid only to athletes they would be sued out of existence.
They already make such regulations.
They regulate schools from giving academic scholarships and it's criteria.
That's exactly should happen on need based money.
An19act shouldn't get academic $ and doesn't per NCAA rule. Just like a family making 200k shouldn't get 90% paid for from need based money which is exactly what is happening at Vandy. Both should be regulated
That's different. I'm talking about schools offering need-based aid to EVERY student on campus. If Vandy offered need-based scholarships to non-athletes only, they'd get sued. And probably not by athletes, by busy body lawyers.
And FWIW, there are public institutions doing this, it's not just private schools.
It really doesn't matter, because the fact is the NCAA likes the current scenario because it is pushing the cost of athletics back on the school.
And FWIW I was told about five years ago by the only person who would absolutely know that every single Vandy baseball player is required to pay something. No one gets a full ride. Price didn't. Dansby Swanson has student loans (though probably not anymore!).
When you look at baseball budgets, remember that somewhere near a three quarters of a million of that budget at Vandy goes to the 11.7 scholarships. And, while Vandy has a huge endowment, its athletics endowment is a pittance (and an embarrassment to the school).
