Tennessee Back on Selby's List

Mama isn't going to warm up to UT until CBP shows that he can develop players and get them into the league. He has had a few recruits that other coaches will point to and hurt our recruiting (Hopson, Crews, Ramar, Chism, Tyler, etc). Hopefully Hopson can progress a ton in the offseason and Harris can be the playmaker that we are banking on. If that happens, CBP may have a couple 1st round draft picks that he can use in recruiting. If not, it will be more of the same with top level recruits.

And while CBP and Cal have both never reached the big game technically, Cal does have a track record with putting players in the league, even though a handful of them could have went straight to the league if not for the 1 year rule.

One and done players are not going to sustain a program. Give me men like Weezy, JP, and Bobby Maze and I am happy. How many one and done studs are in the Final Four this year? Hmmmm? That is why mid-majors had so much success. They have mature teams who have played together for some time. If Selby is a one year stop gap, I would rather him go elsewhere. I don't need it in Knoxville. John Wall...gone. Cousins...gone. Derrick Favors...gone. And no Final Four for any of them. I believe our program is better served with players that have 3-4 stars by their name than the 5 star prima donnas.

If not for a pathetic job by the selection committee, Kentucky would have been in. Also, one and dones have been part of very successful teams like Memphis a few years ago, OSU the year before, and Syracuse when they won it all. I also think UNC's championship team from 2004-2005 had an impact freshman. (Williams?)

We're not in the Final Four, either. I love our guys, and what they did this year, but I'm not really sure how our group was any better.

Which teams have won titles with a bunch of 3-4 star players?

Wow, we are getting "another chance"!! Sounds like he would be a major head case. Still would like to get that kind of talent on the team. Selby and Harris are game changers in my opinion. As long as Bruce can control them.

How insane would it be if we got Selby and UK got Knight? Watching those two go at it twice a year would be freakin' incredible.

More like 2 or 3 times total. I don't see either one playing 2 or more years of college ball...JMO.

Cal "reached the big game" a couple of years ago. He lost to Kansas.
