Tennessee Back on Selby's List

There are a few people posting these cryptic messages about how Selby is all vol and the like? What does everyone know that they aren't telling? My guess is nothing but I want to believe dammit.

I am not sure the Powerade Jam Fest is live or not, but Selby's in the dunk contest, and TN was not listed on the schools list. Just thought that was interesting.

If we get Selby then the sky is the limit. We'd probably have the #1 recruiting class in the nation (top 3 for sure). Anything less than another elite 8 would be a disappointment imo.

All that is IF we get Selby of course.

personally I think Williams and Pearl lite (as i've seen him called on here) will improve, and be motivators for those that need motivating.

With Tobias, thats a no-brainer. I believe he'll fill the spot Pearl puts him in quick.

Personally, to address your question. I think we may find ourselves the same type of team we had this season, perhaps slighty better depending on the 'Candance Parker' type impact that Tobias could bring to our team, but definately no worse.

Not trying to rain on the parade, but just the way the whole thing came about a year ago speaks loudly. He was committed to Tennessee for almost a year, then he went to the LeBron James Skills Academy thing (a Nike event), the mom talks with World Wide Wes, then momma contacted UT a few days later to tell them Josh is decommiting from UT (Adidas) school, and now he's looking at Kentucky (a Nike and WWW connection). And, also, tells UT to feel free to recruit him again. I think he wants UT but his Mom is obviously looking past college for his future. Maybe we still get him. We'll know in a few weeks.

Selby is projected to go to Kansas which is also an Adidas school. Selby isn't going to Kentucky, Kentucky will get Knight.

I'm still curious if dickens has any info... He seems so sure that we have Selby, but has offered no reason why.

He's probably just talkin out of his butt. Little one line statements to contradict the general consensus of a posted thread just to mess with people.

I wonder if Aldrich deciding to go pro changes things for Kansas as the front runner to get Selby. He mentioned one of the main reasons he is considering Kansas is that he could step in Sheron's shoes on a championship caliber team. With Aldrich gone that is a huge piece of their team gone and hurts their chances to contend. I also don't really believe the Adidas Nike thing is as big of a deal as we once thought if Kansas is indeed the front runner like TooLegit2Quit said.Other than Kentucky I honestly believe we give him the best chance for a championship. I don't think he will go there with Knight and Bledsoe. Maybe UCONN but there is concern about Calhouns health and Kemba Walker is a very similar player to Selby. I don't know how well they would compliment each other although it could be a good fit. Arizona is not a contender and is far away from home. He said in an interview that he wants to be part of their rebuilding process which personally doesn't make sense to me because I don't see him staying in college for more than a year maybe two if there is a lockout in the NBA next season. It's not impossible to help rebuild them in a year or two but that sounds like more of a long term reason to go somewhere not short term. Now for US the only negative I see is the fact Bruce Pearl hasn't really put any high caliber players into the NBA unlike Calipari, Self, and Calhoun. BUT maybe the biggest negative about Selby coming to Tennessee is that for some reason his mom doesn't seem to feel like this is the place for him for whatever reason. Personally from my own experience in choosing a smaller school to play basketball at my mom had a huge impact on where I chose to go play ball and ultimately was the difference. I wanted to go to one school and she felt I should go to another. I went where she wanted me to go. That is just my take on it.

I think it's a two school race between Kansas and Tennessee. I'd probably give the edge to Kansas but I have no clue. Sounds like it could go either way.
