Tennessee basically beat nobody this year really

Only a battered UT fan would say this. "You know that that time you went 10-2 in year 2? Yeah we don't expect that around here so it's totally cool if you don't do that again for a long while" lol my goodness.
Where did I say I don't expect it again for a long while?

Anyone with half a brain (A. Would walk in circles and B. Know this year was going to be a transition year).

Next year is where it matter for JH

I'm advocating for change all right. But not a change in coaching like you are projecting. I'm advocating for a change in how Heupel and his players approach these games with actual preparation and adjustments.

If Heupel fails at doing this I will eventually advocate for his replacement as any responsible person would do.
Any Tennessee fan wants to see a different team out there, but it's too late this year. Hopefully we can handle vandy and whoever in a bowl game, and hope for the best next year.

Heupel is the sixth highest paid coach in the SEC. Every coach makes big league money in this league. You’re not going to go just buy someone better. Mark Stoops makes more.

If we finish 9-4 that will be our second best record over the last 16 years. Guess who has our best?
Tied for second. Butch Jones had two 9-4 seasons here.

It is indeed

UT was ranked 12th to begin the season. The thought was that Bru and Thornton would replace Hyatt and Tillman, with Keyton stepping up. Milton was expected to be a Heisman candidate. WTF are you talking about?

Lol, only here. Nobody seriously thought he'd be one.

Shame on you for wanting a coach fired after an 11 win season. Pathetic.
Well good for us you can’t show me where I said that anywhere. You made that up in your 8 year old mind. Do I think he’s the messiah some did after last year? Absolutely not. Did I say fire him? Nope. Nowhere can you find that. However, there are some red flags creeping in on us this year. No leadership, no fight, no discipline. Some very questionable coaching at times. Our offense being on existent. Our last 4-5 games showing regression and being garbage. I truly think next year will tell us more. Unlike you I do want greatness for TN football. With the money and resources the program has you should to. A consistent 7-8 wins with a toilet bowl isn’t what TN football is about.

I love these circle jerk threads where everyone talks about how miserable we are and how we’ll never ever be good again.

Milton is a square peg on in a round hole. Nico could be too, obviously the staff doesn't think he can play at this moment in time with Milton starting. That with OL concerns I believe 7-5 is the ceiling next year
7-5 is closer to the floor. We don’t know the ceiling with Nico but if he lives up to his recruiting ranking the ceiling is extremely high. The OL is all seniors but some of them have another year of eligibility and can return.

Heupel is a 8-4 to 10-2 coach , bowl game every year , possible playoff once every 4. I’m cool with that and have accepted it. I DO NOT WANT A
Pruitt
Jones
Dooley
Type coaches. No thanks.

9-3 will not happen
his on ce in a decade chance against Bama went down the drain
to think people on this board thought there was a chance today after watching the Mizzou game
the program is still way behind being competitive in SEC
there good players but no great players and too few good ones-therefore injuries are far more consequential than teams with depth(all teams have injuries in game 9-12)
I was surprised last year and they managed to blow a major opportunity in SC --- not sure how much coaching leadership or lack thereof was part of it
Disappointed this year not so much by losses as overall player performance
Am an ancient Vol fan and am sure I will be able develop overly optimistic expectations by next summer
I am on to basketball

More like the SEC as a whole is way behind being competitive with Alabama and Georgia.

The other 12 teams are not impressing either and I don't see them taking steps to get ahead of Tennessee.

Oklahoma and Texas are recruiting well though so maybe it will be 4 good teams and 12 dwarves.

4 losses is a HUGE step backwards. Our best win of the year was against a team that paid 76 million to tell their coach to GTFO.

We lost all 4 of the toughest games on our schedule and none of them were even a contest. Outside of the first half of the Bama game UT basically didn't board the busses. Zero signature wins. Basically Butch Jones 2.0
Good grief no. If you don't think Huepel wins the East with the NFL talent Butch had then that's ignorant as hell

The record isn’t far off from what we should have expected given what we lost to the NFL. - Although the Florida loss remains an inexcusable choke job against a bad team.

What’s troubling are the ways that our team has lost. The no-shows against Missuori and Georgia and second half collapse against Alabama show mental weakness. The ill-timed penalties, dropped passes, and consistent overthrows of open receivers combine to form an indictment of team leadership, toughness (lack of), and coaching/game prep.

A lot to improve on from this season.

9-3 next year is possible with losses to Georgia, Oklahoma, and Alabama.

Everyone else on the schedule is beatable.

Ha! Didn’t you just chide someone for putting words in your mouth?

Late to this party, but let me say this is another ridiculous thread. Be a fan, or quit. Your negativity may be your right, but it ue completely worthless. All you can do is potentially hurt us but yiu will never help us with a sad-sack thread. Volnation can do without the repeated numbsack posts about what we did not do or accomplish. Take a hike and never come back. You can't be worth anything to us when we do win again if this is all you have for us when we lose.

I don't believe anyone ever thought Bru and Thornton would "replace" Hyatt and Tillman. They might replace them on the roster but there is a huge talent gap between those duos. I never expected Milton to be any more than what he has shown. If you can't play QB in the Big-10, there is little chance you will succeed in the SEC (unless you are Joe Burrow).
