Vols are lost on this one. Currie tried to re-hire Serrano for another year but he turned it down, then Bohannon accepted the Alabama job a few hours before his scheduled interview with Currie, and now they are apparently down to a Mets Scout, an Arkansas Asst, and a guy fired by one of your SEC East rivals.

Decent hire. Not my first choice but solid

Maybe lawson and Burke will decide coaching is a prerequisite for coaching.

He made the right choice of the three.

I'm still skeptical of the spin that Serrano left because he was offered only an extension when he wanted a new multi-year deal.

It's not normal for AD's to negotiate such things with last-place coaches a week before season end. Status conversations usually occur right after the season, as we saw this week with USCe.

It also would not have been normal for last year's extension to have been offered without some discussion of what Serrano needed to accomplish during his extension to earn a new contract. Whatever benchmarks, formal or informal, were discussed, it's probable they were more ambitious than "not be mathematically eliminated from Hoover until the final weekend" and it's probable they were not achieved.

However, it is normal for coaches who see the writing on the wall to negotiate a dignified exit for themselves by resigning instead of waiting to be fired.

The simplest explanation seems the most plausible.

Kendall Rogers acting like he called this. 2 hrs before news broke he said keep an eye on Vitello then after news broke said "see I told you to keep an eye on him". Dude gave us 8 names a week ago and Vitello wasn't mentioned.

Yep. No one got this right.

I said Calvi was out because of South Carolina which looks to me to be closest thing to the truth

Rogers may be right that talks broke down between us and him yesterday since that's when Holbrook news broke.

I don't doubt Kendall knows his stuff but don't puff your chest out for "predicting" something once news already started to leak. I haven't looked at every one of his tweets but he wasn't mentioning Vitello upon Serrano's resignation.

He said one of the 2 will be hired

Oops, John! Somebody please educate me on who this Kendall Rogers is; he claims that he predicted Vitello, but to me it's not important. At least we have a coach for Vol baseball, & I hope it works. GBO

He's a writer/founder of D1 baseball website. He predicted Vitello literally 1 hr before it was released publicly, as things started leaking and then tried to gorilla beat his chest like he called this hire.

Lol. He didn't have him on his big list of candidates either.
