Sounds familiar.:)

Except Serrano's stop at UT was an anomaly in his career. Bell has spent his entire career in the South, excluding his time at OU. I personally want someone with southern ties due to understanding the landscape. The recruiting pool is diluted by the number of quality programs going after recruits. CSFU was one of THE programs on the West Coast and could field an entire team with good to great talent within a 3 hr radius.

I know this might get some people excited. InsideTennessee mod saying head coach at Auburn is involved. Also says he probably is just using us for a raise but could be something.

He just got the Auburn gig, right? I believe this is his second year and they have already turned things around. Probably just leverage.

Ask 100 hs kids who chris Burke is and I bet less than 25 know in tenn. And Kentucky. I don't need precessional baseball on my resume to know that. In the same aspect 90+ know who tim Corbin is. The Burke name is worthless with hs kids.

100% accurate

Wish nothing but the best BruinVol, whoever you are, but you are dead wrong on this. I work with a bunch of high school kids, and they ALL know Chris Burke. Period. Perhaps if you in fact did have "professional baseball player" on your resume, you would know that. By saying "worthless" shows that you enjoy using what I call belligerent, bullying-type tactics to get your points across. Saying Burke's name is worthless is a worthless, false point.

If Burke were serious about coaching, he would have gotten some collegiate experience in the last 6 years. It would be a real crap shoot for his first experience to be a SEC head coach.

Burkes name is worth the same with 14-17 year olds as the coaching on his resume. Sorry but your playing resume doesn't impress me. congrats on your career. Hope you made some serious money but when the playing days are over you have to earn your keep. That's something Mr Burke needs to understand. Nice guy, great TV guy, knows the game but doesn't love coaching enough to actually do it.

I want Burke. Guys can coach MLB baseball with no experience but not college? He would recruit this talent rich state imho and also see upgrades to facilities.

MLB baseball coaching/managing isn't anywhere close to college which is much more than just being on the field instructing.

Need to hire Alan Cockrell, former Vol QB/Baseball player, coach with Rockies and Current Yankees hitting coach. He's probably more than ready to jettison out of the Big Apple for friendlier confines!

He can get the Vols hitting again to go with promising young pitchers.

I met the guy when he was coaching the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at the Pueblo Zoo of all places...in the Spring of 1998 where we talked about the Vols and that turned out to be a magical season!

Just Hire the Dude!!!

I was at the game with Missouri Friday evening sitting a row in front of a current Athletic Department long time employee (I think with "director" in his title, but not the Athletic Director). He was having a conversion with someone and I heard the phrase, "Alan Cockrell wants the job". I was sitting in front so couldn't see which one said it.

Mosiello and his wife, Janelle, have three sons; Shane, Gehrig and Helton. His son, Shane, will be a freshman on the squad in 2016.
From TCU's baseball page.

I'm sure he wouldn't leave the situation he is in, but I found his kid's names interesting. Mosiello was here for a few years for those that don't recognize the name.

Mosiello will be a good head coach someday somewhere and maybe sooner than later however UT will not hire another coach/player scenario for a long long time IMO..........

In today's Knoxville News Sentinel, Currie said that he is looking for the right fit and that he does not like prolonged coaching searches.

I like the fact that Talbot has SEC experience as a player and that he has Louisiana ties because Louisiana is a prep hotbed for football and UT has never really gone into Louisiana for high school baseball prospects.

So where was he from 2009-1014?
