Tennessee - Florida "Rivalry"

Dumb, inaccurate and wimpy statements are dumb, inaccurate and wimpy. You are shameful. Turn in your forum name now.

UT OPENED the 90's with a win and won TWO more. In 1998 UT won a national championship undefeated.

Spurrier lost the last Florida regular season game he ever coached.....to Fulmer. Spurrier lost the last Florida SEC game he ever coached......to Fulmer. Spurrier lost the last game he ever coached in the swamp.......to Fulmer.

From wiki: " The game, as painful as it was for the Gators, would later cause more heartache as it served as Steve Spurrier's last home game as Gator football coach. Spurrier quickly resigned his job as HBC at Florida...."

Your exaggeration by using the word "always" repeatedly makes you appear as a wimpy whiner.

A real Vol would have known these stats. A real Vol For Life wouldn't be so wimpy.

I at least hope your panties are orange.

Lol no idea how to respond to that other than you're a complete idiot. Have fun with that

People are giving KBVol a hard time, when each and every one of you to some extent feels the exact same way. We have lost to some awful Florida teams in the last 9 years.

I have ZERO confidence in us beating Florida next year. I'm done having confidence in that game. It won't happen again until we beat them at least 3 times. If you were to tell me we were 11-1 next year, and Florida was 1-11, I would very much assume the "1" is Florida.

We may have a great year next year, and an even better year in 2014. But regardless, we will lose to Florida both years.

Prove me wrong team 118. For the love all things holy Jesus Lord in Heaven please prove me wrong.

This x about 1,000.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 9 consecutive times .......

It's just the way he vents his frustrations. We all are frustrated with losing to UF but why be so negative about it? What's done is done. It sucks but it is what it is. Also why be so negative about next years game before its played? "UF wins by double digits. Book it." Seriously? Why not have just a little bit of faith in team 118. That's what gets me.

You're right Train. I'm subject to hyperbole, exaggeration and embellishment when venting my frustration on this subject. I know it comes off as defeatist and even a little ridiculous. My bad.

But this series with Florida just absolutely baffles me. In all reality, Florida is our biggest rivalry since the SEC split into East and West divisions. Yet we're just not competitive with these guys at all, no matter what the situations are with either team.

We're 6-18 since 1990. After they win comfortably for the umpteenth time it's "meh, I have laundry to do". When we win because they miss a chip shot fg in OT, we tear down the goal posts and carry em down to Cumberland Ave. I know.... I'm doing it again.

I literally have more belief that we find a way to beat Bama, Georgia or Mizzou next year than Florida. 9 consecutive losses has done that to me. Buddy of mine is Florida fan. He doesn't consider UT a rivalry... just a regular, easy W.

You guys won 4 games. Lost to freaking Ga Southern and Vanderbilt..... one of those 4 wins was a beat down, with a backup qb who sucked vs everyone else, of who?..... you betcha.....Tennessee.

You guys should and will be favored to beat UT in Neyland next year..... and there's not even .00001% doubt in my mind that you'll win...again. Death. Taxes. And Florida kicking the crap out of UT every year.

Not being a UF fan, you naturally did not watch us much this year. This team had very little heart to start with, and what it had was gone by mid-season.

Florida will beat Tennessee. Gator fans claiming otherwise are insane. It is in the SEC rule book somewhere. If UT steps out of line then they get a Gaffney for it. UT football is like an 90 year old man with a 20 year old girlfriend but no Viagra.

I watched our annual loss to UF. That's all I cared about with regards to Florida other than hoping they would beat Vandy. So all I know about Florida's team this year is that they were a much better team than UT when we played them. Given that UT lost even to the worst UF since the late 1970s, I in no way expect them to beat them next year when Florida will be healthy again and surely "regrouped" and much better than they are currently.

You guys had plenty of heart when the season started. Even muschamp after the Vandy game said the Gators just lost the mental toughness they had in the first few games. The loss to Miami was a fluke. You guys showed heart when you lost Driskell and still beat us with an AWFUL QB.

The problem with Muschamp's teams is they give up quickly. It was evident in the Louisville game. Y'all didn't want to be there and you played like it.

This topic has been discussed before and I've always known that Florida has always had our number - even in the 90's they were the team that always beat us; but today I just looked at the actual numbers and it's truly pathetic. I don't see how this is any more of a rivalry than Vandy/Kentucky vs UT.

Since 1976, in 28 meetings with the Gators we are 6-22 against the them. Our longest win streak during that period is TWO while the gators have beaten us 4 & 5 times in a row, and currently 9 times in a row.

Even in all of Fulmer's greatness, Spurrier always had his number. I know we all hate Alabama, and I know that with our two consecutive losses to Vandy they're the first and foremost 'problem' to be taken care of - but does everyone agree that for Butch to be seen as successful here (in the long run) that he not only needs to win avg 9 a year but beat the damn gators year in year out once and for all!?

that would be great for him to do that. It is quite a challenge though. Even with poor coaches they get so much talent from in their state it makes it very difficult to accomplish..

I see you don't care much for my earlier "book it" statement. So you're a little more optimistic about our chances vs Florida. No worries. Wish I could share the sentiment. Teams 109-117 have left my glass a little half empty when it comes to believing team 118 will beat Florida. And just because I don't believe they will doesn't mean I won't be hoping like hell that they do.

Amen. Let's whip dey azz. Bottom line ... we all want to get back to that happy place where we are going to the games expecting to win, not hoping to win.

Basically Florida has owned us since the 90s and we owned them before the 90s. But it really didnt become a rivalry until the 90s, we still one a few here and there in the late 90s and early 2000s. But since they won 5 in a row it's stopped being a rivalry IMO. We have to win a couple in a row to get it back to rivalry status.

It's actually 9 in a row. But you're not really wrong either because Florida has also had a 5 game win streak (as well as a 4 game win streak) vs UT since the 1990. UT on the other hand has never won more than 2 in a row. Ready for this fulitity vs our biggest "rival" to end.

A moderator should delete VolFan4Life87's and KBvol's board names.

They aren't vols.......and they are feminine.

I thought the tide officially changed after '01. We both had a national championship but we went to the swamp at the end of the season to make up the missed 9/11 weekend game and won to clinch the East. Spurrier was leaving and we were a win away from playing in our 2nd national championship game in 4 years.

Unfortunately we stumbled the following week missing out on the 2nd national championship appearance, and now over a decade later, not only didn't we take control of this series but have been dominated losing 9 straight years. Definitely didn't see that coming following that first Saturday in Dec. of '01.

In order for us to get to the S.E.C. Championship game, we will most likely need to beat Florida.

In order for us to win the S.E.C. Championship game, we will most likely need to beat Alabama.

Both of them are potential obstacles standing in our way to accomplishing our goals...

Seeing that we play both of them each year they aren't a potential obstacle, they are an obstacle.
