*****Tennessee Football Coaching Search BIG BOARD [updated 12.4 10:47 am]

I have to wonder if people actually believe this or they just actually enjoy hating on the program.

There’s not a sniff of evidence to support this, yet people just perpetuate the the BS just to keep the hate rolling.
Where you been the past decade?

The point is, ALL of this should have already been vetted long before now. You think Helton leaving was news to this staff as of last week? They've known for quite a while that Helton wasn't returning next season! This story about Briarcrest came out last year. A simple Google search would have unearthed this for anyone who was doing do dilligence on Freeze's background. I dont begrudge the university for vetting Freeze. But this should've already happened. It's just yet another example of incompetence that our university has shown.

How on earth do you "know" that "they've known for quite a while that Helton wasn't returning next season?" Neither you or I have any such knowledge.

You are correct that a Google search would have revealed the story at Briarcrest last year; however, if everyone was so tuned in to Freeze, why are so many people on this Board clueless about the claims. Moreover, until he became a legitimate hiring target, why would anyone investigate those claims--what a waste of time and money.

Speed is not the only sign of competence and speed for speed's sake more often leads to mistakes than victory. Evey ting gonna be aight! Peace.

i just wanted to say thanks to @Freak for keeping a no BS thread with the most reliable (possible) info available. when i really get frustrated, i come back to post #1 and get caught up on reality and the most current info.

Because anyone with eyes, ears, and a lick of common sense could see that Pruitt and Helton were sideways with each other from an early standpoint of the season. Because rumors of this had been brewing for weeks. No I cannot prove in a court of law that I have insider knowledge but come on man! Some things are just obvious and this is one of those things.

I'm not talking about speed as in hurrying or working faster. I'm talking about working proactively and gathering the information on the front end BEFORE your OC announces hes leaving instead of letting this kind of info come to you and then having to react to it as we are doing now. That's why we look incompetent! Not because we are working slowly, but because we are being reactionary to things we should've already been on top of weeks ago.

Anyone from the South, that is older than 30, knows how things went in school. These new age kids and their rights...

Man, those paddlings (3 licks) from a tobacco planting, hay bailing teacher. Those fools would have holes drilled in those boards and grab you by the loop in your pants to get maximum effect. I got many in my day. Talking, fighting, anything you do wrong, head to the hall.

Except for the reminder that Will Friend was paid 800K for this year's OL performance.

Not going to to lie, I would have done it for 200k. Heck, maybe even a little less.

***Yeah, weird stuff happening***

The shirt incident chick is, or was 27 at the time of the article I wrote.

Just google Briarcrest Freeze incident

Just to pick a nit, USA Today corrected her age to 32. They said the incidents reported were in the late 90s and early 00s, and Freeze was there till ‘04, so roughly 15 to 20 years ago. But still, that seems awfully recent for paddling. But what do I know, my memory is generally very blurry anyway.

Briarcrest is a private school. Different rules.

The more I talk to people around the Liberty athletic department, the more I'm convinced the Hugh Freeze hire could actually happen. Considering their AD and the fact that Freeze spoke at LU this year. Ppl deserve second chances no doubt but I'll still be shocked if it happens. -- Chierstin Susel, WBIR
