Whatever...This is funny. Neither of us have once said we expect Tennessee to win no matter what or this is a cake walk. Nor have we disparaged Georgia’s talent. You’re the one salivating over everything that is Georgia and completely discounting Tennessee. That is what makes it so obvious. It’s 1 versus 3 at #3 who is favored by 8. No one in their right mind can guarantee who is going to win this game. You sure love some uga though. Hey…..’you do you’….
Someone will be 1vs1 in this scenarioSomeone on youtube said that the way you stop or limit UT is to stop their run without adding guys to the box. Not wrong. If you can stop UT's run game primarily with 4 DLs and a LB then you can give help to cover the WRs.
But that is a big challenge. The OL is playing well. UT has two RBs who are running well.... and if you figure that out... Hooker can hurt you too.
To me this is Bru’s game to shine. Their secondary is big and can run with us. Heupel is going to be a bit more limited in scheming our guys open so we need our big pass catchers like Bru and Ced to show out because hard YAC plays are what will keep us moving. The open space will shrink much faster.I'm hoping McCoy or White shows out Saturday. They've seen Hyatt and Tillman, and understand that threat. But these guys have that level of talent as well. If we can get a few defensive stops and get ahead early, I don't think they will catch us.
Something tells me that Heupel won't let that happen if we're in a position to do any "bursting" on Saturday. We have a truly special and rare opportunity before us this Saturday. To be in a spot to almost guarantee not just a spot in the playoffs but the #1 seed and play for a national championship is something that programs not named bama, uga and osu rarely have the opportunity do. Can we muster the game of the season and take down the defending national champions in their house? That would be an amazing, miraculous turn of events. Still have a hard time believing just what this team has already accomplished much less what they might have an opportunity to achieve starting Saturday. We have a trend where we do this in 3rd quarter of games along with poor play calling offensively. We need to let the damn burst on UGA in the 3rd quarter even if we're up a lot.
Yes, I agree, WE are #1 for a reason. Vols by fiddy!!True. It's like saying the way to stop the 90s Bulls is to slow Michael Jordan without leaving the shooters to double team him. It sounds possible in the game planning sessions, but it falls apart in game.
If the Vols can play mistake-free football, they will win this game. Hooker is making all the right reads. Ball security, penalties, pressures, picks and special teams will be the difference.
If the the Georgia D can rough Hooker up, keep him uncomfortable, then they have a good chance. Hasn't happened yet, but they are #1 for a reason.
Nice assessment sjt!Yeah. In my mind I keep seeing Hyatt do a circle route stop with Tillman doing a stutter and go down the sideline... UK kept biting on the cross/post. UGA will probably coach their guys not to do that... enabling UT to eat them up in the deep middle. Once you spread them out so they can't hide their coverage... things really start being pretty hard to stop.
FYI - I'm picking ga to win this week as well. reasoning is that if the Vols play their A game and Ga plays their A game, Ga will win.
UGA had 5 defensive players drafted in the 1st round alone! All were part of the front seven, except Cine, which is a safety. They were decimated by the draft, with a few o-linemen being drafted as well. I know UGA is in that plug and play status, but the loss they were handed, due to the draft, really put a hamper on their defense & O-Line, IMO. Not to mention, their best Edge rusher is out for the season due to getting hurt in the Florida game. All of our starters/depth are 100% now. With the exception of Jalen mccullough, I'm pretty sure we have everyone back all the way down to Dee Williams along with a 100% healthy Cedric Tillman. All this to say, I believe UT pulls out the W by at least 7 points. GBO #1 in the NATION!!!
Alabama dropped 8 most of the game. How that work out for them?Someone on youtube said that the way you stop or limit UT is to stop their run without adding guys to the box. Not wrong. If you can stop UT's run game primarily with 4 DLs and a LB then you can give help to cover the WRs.

Why would you think McCullough isn’t playing??
