The future of this team is in their own hands. Only Tennessee and Georgia in the SECE can make that statement. I like being in that position, a position in which we have not been at the part of the season for a long long time.I disagree. We haven’t won the East, or the SEC, or the National Championship but those are hardly everything worth winning this season. We have won several hard games against solid opposition, won the respect and acknowledgment of our rising status as a program by the larger college football world, and done so in exciting fashion.
I fully expect the impact on recruiting from our performance this year to pay big dividends much quicker than I would’ve guessed when Heupel was first hired. We could drop Georgia, Kentucky, and even something like South Carolina and it would definitely be a disappointment but the season would not have been a total failure or anything close or it (it depends somewhat on how those games look of course.)
I do agree with the one game at a time approach, but it’s also important to recognize the positives as they come. You can do that and still understand that we while we have achieved a lot, we still aren’t where we want to be long term and approach the games appropriately.
It’s nice to finally beat Bama but we take our focus off the wheel we will be in the ditch. One game at a time as we are winless the way I see it . True…
I guess I’ve just seen too much Vol football and know well girls instance I thought we’d win back to back championships in the late nineties but somewhere somehow with those great teams we managed to lose focus. I just think we have a team as good as them and I remember all the breaks we had that season to overcome and we did but it wasn’t easy. I give them credit for what they have done I just want the focus to remain is all that’s pretty much it. But I’m a big boy I can take jabs that’s okay.Nitpicking you maybe. But do you really think it matters if you and I personally take our "focus off the wheel"? Or were you referring to the team... which has shown no indications of focusing on anything except being better than they were the day/week/month before and the next opponent?
