Tennessee/Indiana to Play Public Charity Exhibition in TBA

Guys they’re not going to put Bishop Boswell into a game against a top 20 team with 10 minutes left when it actually counts.

Rick used this like an NBA preseason game and that’s fine. Get a free look at all your guys against a real team instead of paying some D2 scrub to come here, we beat them by 50 but learn absolutely nothing.

It should be better than it has been this game but I don't see a very high ceiling.
You'll get run out of here with a comment like that. And LOL at all the people getting their feathers ruffled over a simple conditional statement.

"If", If people...we get that kind of offensive performance in conference games we play this year we will be a middle of the pack team. Never said we definitively would, in fact go back and read the first post about observing the game today. Defense will look like a Rick Barnes defense. But offensively, it's hard to tell yet.

Lanier missed a ton of shots. He has the capability of putting up some numbers but my concern and question is where does the offense come after him. ZZ will get his, but some others have to step up.

I like the team though, seemed to all be playing aggressively on defense and were in good condition.

The offense will improve as we play together. Indiana played bigger and were willing to let us shoot 3s to protect the rim. We missed them early.

I guess we aren't doing so great? Anyone care to take a break from witching and give a score?

If this is the harbinger of what's to come this season, it's time for Danny to up Barnes retirement package and initiate a search for someone who can coach offense as well as defense. This season ain't going to be pretty.
Wow. That’s quick and overreaction to an exhibition game. As I recall, Barnes and the Vols had a pretty good year last year I think.

Bob Rathbun said on a recent Atlanta Hawks telecast that an assistant coach once told him that it takes 20 games into a season to find out what the team's strenghts and weaknesses will be in the NBA.

How many games does it take on the college level?
One exhibition game for a lot of the VN naysayers.

66-62 final
Appreciate that. From the posts, I'd have assumed we had lost by 15-20. Since IU is ranked and we've flipped our roster, I'm pretty happy with that score to be honest. I'd figured the first third of the season would be pretty rocky until this bunch gels and comes together as a team. As long as we're playing our best ball in March, I ain't too worried about what happens in Oct/Nov.

I saw a huge improvement on the inside. They can actually catch a pass in the post and not fumble it out of bounds. Felix handled the big boy pretty well and at the end of the game big boy was gassed. When the shooting is this bad its hard to tell much else about the game or the future. Once thing is for sure, come January, no one is going to just waltz down the lane like they did today!

We randomly inserted the only true freshman on our team into the game with 10 minutes left to get a look at him. We were not going balls out to try a win a game that doesn’t count.

Always nicer to win even in an exhibition, but I’m not taking too much away from this one. We didn’t game prep for the game like we would a real game. We used some rotations I don’t think you see if that’s a real game, Boswell and Dubar do not stay on the floor during the run Indiana went on in the second half if it isn’t an exhibition. We’ve got 4 rotation guys who weren’t here last year and are still learning to play together.

Mashack with 9 pts(50%/67%), 4 reb, 1 ast, 3 stl
Okpara with 6 pts(50%), 6 reb, 4 blk
Zeigler with 13 pts(20%/20%), 3 reb, 8 ast, 5 TO, 1 stl in 37 minutes
Gainey with 12 pts(38%/33%), 2 reb, 2 ast, 1 TO
Milicic with 8 pts(43%/0%), 8 reb
Lanier with 10 pts on 16 shots, 3 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk

The team shot 18-21 from the FT line

I only read this one section but I died laughing. This is an exhibition game. We have folks making season long predictions based on AN EXHIBITION GAME😂😂😂. Gotta love Volnation. It’s consistent if nothing else🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Definitely had some trolls in mid-season form. Some actually think people buy their crap as intelligent input, some just enjoy airtime and soliciting retorts. Wish they and the world could see all the eye rolls and cringes. Kind of gives free speech a bad name.

Definitely in an exhibition but likely in the pre conference schedule, I'd do exactly that, too. You can never have enough depth. Barnes needs to see what he has and grow some of these younger players now. Once league play starts, it's a tougher road. Folks need to chill and expect a lot of growing pains. Today was just the beginning. Barnes knows what he's doing.

Balance...I dig it.

What was the reason for all the 3 point attempts?

The refs and players need work, but the LOTMs picked right up where they left off.

Gainey’s 12 points was another surprise.

The length and defense really stood out. Mashack, ZZ, and Felix are going to be beasts defensively
