How so? Their stats are almost identical and Walker plays in a much tougher conference and is not a "true" PG. I even used Powell's career stats bc her stats this year are much worse but I understand the team has been in turmoil, etc.
Both are right at 35% fg shooters. Powell a bit better on the 3, 32% to 29% for Walker, neither sets the woods on fire. Walker a slightly better rebounder, and that is one of her strengths. This one might surprise folks, Walker also has a slightly better assist/t.o. ratio 1.18 to Powell's career 1.16.
IMO Walker took on alot of criticism, justifibly, when she struggled w the press during our bad patch. But IMO, this would be a lateral move which would allow Walker to move to her natural position at 2. I could be wrong, but doesn't appear to me to be a huge upgrade. That's ok, but I still wonder, espec if we get Jackson, if we can snag someone a bit better at PG. I get that Powell and Jackson are friends, etc and if it helps us get Rickea, I'm all for it. Just not sure the expectations for a big upgrade w Powell at PG are realistic.
Then there's Miles, who is just a frosh and appears to me to have a huge upside. Especially if she learns to shoot.
