Tennessee Lady Vol News

Charlie Creme, this morning—

With Caitlin Clark's electrifying play leading the way, Iowa has won four consecutive games, including three against teams in the top 25 of the NET. Sunday's rout of Michigan gave the Hawkeyes a share of the Big Ten regular-season title. It also vaulted them into the top 16. One more win in the conference tournament later this week should be enough for Iowa to host first- and second-round NCAA tournament games for the first time since 2015. But as one team rises, another must fall. Tennessee has played reasonably well since losing leading scorer Jordan Horston to injury, but it hasn't been enough. Despite an otherwise impressive body of work, the Lady Vols have lost three of their past four games. The NCAA tournament selection committee's final reveal of the top 16 seeds on Monday should not include Tennessee. And if it stays that way come Selection Sunday, it will mark the first time since the committee began in-season reveals in 2015 that a team that once appeared as a No. 1 seed failed to remain in the top 16 come tournament time.

UPDATED BRACKETOLOGY: When the selection committee reveals its top 16 on Monday, it shouldn't include Tennessee. Iowa has replaced the Lady Vols as a 4-seed. * Losses devastate NCAA tourney hopes for Duke, Mississippi St. * Mizzou, Arkansas get big wins

Women's Bracketology: Red-hot Iowa vaults into top 16

This bracket has us as a 5 seed at 4 seed Iowa. I would love that second round matchup. We handled Arkansas and Missouri. I think Key could shut down Czinano and our height could bother their shooters. Not being top 16 may be a blessing in disguise.

Yeah, but you have to look at who is doing this bracketology. He still has Notre Dame as a 4 seed. They were just blown off their home court and down over 20+ points to Louisville. Indiana will crush Notre dame in the 2nd round.

Oh, I know it’s not set in stone and just a projection. I’m just saying I would like to face them. I get your points.

Creme had said yesterday we would not fall out if we played competitively versus LSU but I guess Iowa's upset changed that.

That said, I disagree I think Clark would have a field day with our weak close outs. And if we get down early and big, I am unsure we can come back (we did against poor shooting LSU, but pure shooter like Clark would be a different story). I'd rather play Notre Dame.

Still a decent chance we get back in the Top 16 if we draw UGA and beat them and get even a little help even if we fall to LSU again. Two wins is a practical assurance of a 4 Seed.

Nah dude has no idea. He’s never very close. I still think we will host. If we make it to the championship game of the SEC tourney there is no way we aren’t a 4 seed or better.

Iowa does not play well defensively and we beat the crap out of teams like that. czinano would not be able to score at all on Key. Tamari will have 10+ blocks if we play them.

Then after the seeding come out on the selection day he shakes his head and says, "I can't believe it." Every year the same thing. He likes to be controversial with the Lady Vols, because it gets people talking and more people will read his stuff. Pay him no mind. He doesn't doesn't have a clue and this year with so much parity, his head must be exploding lol..........

I'm not to concerned about what he posted today in his bracketology because it is quite evident to me we have to win two Tourney games to host. So nothing really matters today winning two games matters or we will be on the road.

I do think Coach Harper may need to rethink the schedule if it turns out that teams with about the same number of losses get a home bid over us with sos over 30 and rpi over 20. He is giving Iowa the four seed and their Net is 18 , their rpi is 25, and their sos is 30. To add their quantran one and two record is 13 and 7 while our is 17 and 7. Net 17, rpi 8, sos 4 Really makes no sense to me but we'll see if he is right or not. Also Notre Dame another weak resume and got blown off their home court is another four seed. Hard to understand the logic since they have a 30 rpi, a 13 and 7 win loss quantran 1 and 2 and 20 net with an sos of 35. These are two of his four seeds that he is putting over us.

I mean we could drop Stanford and Uconn and schedule Tennessee State and Austin Peay for 40 point wins if that is what they are using these days.

No way ND still gets a 4 after the other night. The committee watched that game too. I said earlier I felt they and Duke would fall out of the Top 25 by the tournament. Duke did for certain. I maintain that ND is not that great this season. Miles is a standout individual performer who has helped them to a lot of victories.

I wouldn't be surprised if the seeding committee shows no mercy to Tennessee in light of the injuries. They were 18-1 before Green got hurt, and have lost 6 of the last 10 since. They aren't the same team that built up the resume that got them a projected #1 seed, and I'm sure the committee knows it. I agree with everyone saying that the only way they host is a deep run in the SECT. Need to give the seeding committee a reason to believe that this is still a top 16 team.

I believe the committee is also allowed to take injuries and how the team is trending into account.
Two factors that don't favor the LV's currently.
