I agree, especially since it appears we are the first school she has chosen to openly visit and let people know she’s interested in. I think we can land her this weekend. Gotta hope.
Really have a feeling she wants to stay in the SEC. If she wants to compete for a championship I fully believe Tennessee would be her best option. The players we have returning only need a couple more people to help for us to be extremely dangerous.
LSU will be rebuilding, it would be a lot like the last two years at MSST for her. I don’t see South Carolina as a good option for her because they are already stacked at her position. They have several 4 players so no guarantee she would be the star of that position there.
With Alexus graduating we have a natural opening for her at the 4 spot. We obviously have Suarez and Puckett coming back but both of them, and Jackson are versatile enough to play 2-4. With Rickea we would have great rotations with really good outside shooters all around.
Powell (
), Darby, Horston, Jackson, Suarez, Puckett and Pissott can all shoot the deep ball. Little Darby may also get some minutes and can shoot it. Will make us extremely hard to guard compared to this season. Striplin can also shoot from deep but I don’t expect we will see her do that a ton.
I’m salivating now, but the prospect of Jackson in Knoxville is huge to me. She’s a player I have loved watching the last few years.
I’m not hesitant about Powell either. I think she has extremely high upside and speed. She’s an SEC caliber player. Just isn’t on a good team and not playing in a system designed for her to be most successful. She’s a stellar passer but doesn’t have the right pieces around her to take full advantage. I think her shot selection will be much different in Knoxville as well. Minnesota is basically just ‘hoopin on offense these days. Since Whalen has been there they have not run any sort of consistent offense and players just jack shots up. No quality bigs so they don’t have much inside game.
