What a jerk Crème is, this is his bracketology comment today, doesn’t even put Tennessee in the region The Committee put us in. Makes no allowance for sos obviously, discounting that 2 of our recent losses were to teams in the top ten, then talks, of course, about UConn. Nice that The Committee saw through the easy schedule of North Carolina, which “The Net” did not.
“The NCAA selection committee's final top-16 reveal on Monday provided more surprises than either of the first two. The most notable? Indiana and Tennessee, which have combined to lose seven of their past nine games, remained on the list. Oregon, Notre Dame and North Carolina didn't make the cut, despite having better records in all the distinctive win categories (record vs. NET top 25, top 50, top 100) than the Hoosiers. Iowa moved into the top 16, which now includes four teams from the Big Ten and four from the Big 12. That makes bracketing a challenge and is the main reason UConn was once again placed outside the geographically friendly Bridgeport Regional. The Huskies' best chance to be placed there is to improve their seed. UConn was No. 9 overall on the committee's list Monday after being No. 11 in the reveal two weeks ago. With Paige Bueckers back, the Huskies are big favorites in the Big East tournament. Don't be surprised if UConn is a No. 2 seed and in the Bridgeport Regional after Championship Week.”
Totally false statement about the wins because the NCAA committee goes by Q 1 and 2 wins with Q 3 and four losses your biggest detriment. They also still use Net, RPI, and Sos.
When you look at all these teams then you will see who has the best resumes and who has went out and played the toughest schedule. I posted yesterday about couldn't believe Notre Dame, North Carolina, Oregon, or Iowa were ahead of us because if you look at their overall season of work our resume is much better than any of those teams.
Q 1 and 2 wins Tennessee 17 and 7, Notre Dame 13 and 7, Iowa 13 and 7, Indiana 10 and 7, Maryland 12 and 7, Oregon 13 and 9 , North Carolina 12 and 5 Tennessee has the best of all these teams in Q 1 and 2 wins. Next Net Tennessee 16, Notre Dame 21, Iowa 18, Indiana 19, Maryland 13, and Oregon 12, North Carolina 6 RPI Tennessee 7, Notre Dame 18, Iowa 25, Indiana 13, Maryland 10, Oregon 26, North Carolina 17 Then SOS Tennessee 5, Notre Dame 35, Iowa 29, Maryland 9, and Oregon 7. North Carolina 59
Tennessee is 13th because of their Q1and 2 record and their biggest boost is their sos of 5. I was relieved to see that the committee was using this because why go out and play Stanford and UConn while NC was playing fairfield and Greensboro because if they had played those game they wouldn't have five losses they would have 7. North Carolina's 59 strength of schedule is weighing on them and to late to anything about it now. The SEC is also rated the number one conference in the country both in NET and RPI.
I think we need one SEC tourney win to stay exactly where we are. Two might get us a three seed. If we lose the first game we might still make the sixteen but a lot of these teams will need to lost as well.
