I agree with this and the more I think about it, the more it might not be as crazy to play in this as it initially looks.
Assuming (big assume, I know) CC moves on, Iowa is much less potent next year.
Louisville is always a rotating door with the portal anymore so that's a big question mark.
UCONN are what they are but have been on a downward trajectory themselves for a bit now...of course there are injuries but I have a hard time picturing next year being a sudden throwback to the glory years for them. With Geno alluding to single digit number of wins left he might hang it up after this year. I feel like this was the year he was squeezing out one more in the hopes of a healthy team for Paige's senior year and look how that turned out.
So worst case, UT loses on national TV to a highly ranked team. Not exactly new news, very likely to actually happen tonight. But, a win in that venue and showcase...could be a huge boost. Worth the risk or something that happens seasonally anyways? Maybe...
Let's just not lead into this event with a handful of ranked teams to play right beforehand...clear the schedule, cupcakes for 2 weeks leading up to this, just mho
