She never implied that this will be a several year process. Danny is the best AD in the NCAA…. I trust him 100%!!!She's a great interviewee. Sharp, honest, concise, no bs. Realistic and level headed. Self assured but humble, knows and admits to what she doesn't know.
Been saying don't sleep on Sara. She's been suffering fm the soft bigotry of low white girl expectations. As I suspected, the hunt is on for 3 pt shooters and sounds like Sara, Jewel and Tess are it so far. Very cool to see Sara step up as the leader; it;s natural since she, Kayia and Tess have been here through it all.
They've done well recruiting given the circumstances, but at some point it won't do to run with #77 instead of #3 bc #77 embraces the system. It's fine for the stage of the build we're in right now. Eventually, to get to the grown up table w So Car and the gals, we have to get elite recruits who also are willing and able, and are both athletic and skilled. That's why I'm bummed about Nyla Brooks.
She couldn't be more realistic that they'll take lumps and great answer about the schedule. I just wish her boss had not oversold the situation like a big belly, jacket too small used car salesman in her introductary pressor. She's told us in every way imaginable that this will indeed be a several year process and I hope she'll get grace. I just want to see enough progress to convince me the system is worth taking the lumps for.
Guess we need to define terms. They should be much better in March than November for sure. But getting both the system and elite players in place who can compete with the big dogs is at least a couple of season away IMO. She's said over and over it's a slow building process.Bingo. She said NOVEMBER isn’t her best month as a coach.
Texas is a tall task but I’m sure we can beat Sc.Guess we need to define terms. They should be much better in March than November for sure. I'm curious if some think the LVs will be challenging So Car and Texas this season? Hope ya'll are right but I don't think so.
No she hasn’t…. she has stated that it’s a slow process at the beginning of each season…. Last year at Marshall…. they started 2-4 and lost their best player. They didn’t lose but 3 games the rest of the season including the NCAA Tournament game. I think we have an above average roster and can’t wait to watch them play.Guess we need to define terms. Love the non-stop action. Sounds like she is a task master in the gym and I’m ready to see what it makes of these young women.
I think Kim will know alot more when they're playing against the male practice players. Looks like right now, understandably, they're kind of still walking (running) thru the new system, where to go, when to shoot , etc.
In other news, this year the SEC is requiring an accurate injury report the day before games like pros do. Thank goodness. Remember the agony of Rickea being "day to day" for 6 weeks last year and every game praying this would be the one where she showed up in shootaround? Never again.
It is not unprecedented for a new coach and scheme to start off fast right out of the gate. I have a sense that will be the case this season with the quality of the new players and coaching staff. I believe most opponents will be confused about how to play against CKC’s system which will be an advantage for the LV’s. And on the nights when they are hitting their threes UT will be able to beat anyone. She sounds great in every way to me. And just think, even though seeing the occasional workout video kinda gives us the sense that all this is going on all day every day, in REALITY they've only gathered for short periods not all that many times.
To put it in perspective, Kim is greatly looking forward to when they'll get a full 10 hours of practice per week. If that sounds like very few hours to install and perfect a totally new system it's because it IS. So if the coach is salivating for the startup time when 10 hours per week sounds great, imagine how few hours they must actually have had to get much done to this point.
The team has a long way to go, and an impossibly short number of practice hours to get there. I know *I* am going to be patient. Excited to see steady progress, but understanding when/if they have a few stumbles in the first third of the season.
It’s actually refreshing to hear a LV coach be as honest as CKC was in yesterday’s press. She sounds great in every way to me. The best footage of the day right here… very intentional and team oriented basketball on full display in this clip.
I believe this team has 6 or 7 players that can average double figures in scoring and maintain it through SEC play.
Coach Caldwell says she hope to go 10 or 11 deep. The team has quality depth.
By far one of the most athletic teams in the SEC.
