Tennessee Lady Vol News

What is the value of keeping a scrimmage “secret”? I understand not having film I suppose. Maybe not giving stats. But generalities or acknowledging who one played makes no sense. Men’s teams are doing that routinely.

I'm guessing there's some ridiculous NCAA rule about it, 'cause I'm sure everyone in the Lady Vols' program would agree there's no value to keeping it secret.

I heard last year, I think, that they're not even allowed to keep score (or some such). The NCAA doesn't want it to be even remotely considered/treated like/publicized like a real -- or even exhibition -- game. So it's "secret." Silly, but it is what it is.

Sounds like Virginia Tech. Or I guess could be UVa but they're a bit further away.
Travis, I don't think it was VT, they scrimmaged Richmond this past weekend (and lost by 20+). More likely one of the NC schools from the Winston Salem/Raleigh Durham areas would be a logical guess, or of course one of the WV schools WVU/Marshall. Those are guesses from looking at the map of where Emery Va. is located in comparison to Knoxville and other schools within a reasonably similar distance to Emery. I didn't consider smaller schools since the poster led us to believe it was a major.

Oh look, the "insider" that claims to know but can't tell anyone is poking his nose in the discussion in an attempt to show everyone that he knows something you don't and he wants to let you know he laughs at you for not knowing. What a piece of work, as usual. Just pity him and ignore.
Oooops… gettin political.

Georgia Tech, perhaps? Emory and Henry my *zz.

Who is the 2025 player they're referring to?
Good questions!
And, I have no inside sources! So, as to where they went or who they played...
I do not know.
I do not care.
I will love them and pull for them ...worldwide!
However:
If what we've heard from poster(s), is half right; and if the Ball Out site is geographically correct ...we could then speculate (our favorite past time) that, perhaps we scrimmaged at Emory University in Atlanta?

Possibly, possibly. Is Emory coached by someone with the name Henry?

Damn riddlers, always talking in code.

Lil ol Me?
I just wanted to @VolFuture from losing his/her contact
this site IS monitored by every UT staff and I'd hate to see anyone who has a good source lose it.

the only ones I pity is people who judge me as you do
I bleed orange and have done so since 1977
if you have problem with me,,,well,,,I'm crushed
then again maybe not,,,bc you have had problems with several posters
Darth?

I'm good with these secret scrimmages remaining secret because it totally frees both coaching staffs to look at and work on things of concern to them, without the pressure to "prove" anything to boosters and the fanbase at home or post a score or team stats.

Just as much, it frees players to be placed in uncomfortable or unfavorable matchups by their coaches, without that third eye distraction of "I'm looking incompetent" to an imagined audience.

I presume the opposing coaches negotiate things like "teaching timeouts" and maybe even coordinated substitutions, like "I want to see my 23 going up against your 17 for a few possessions."

Oh. And just to feed the rumor mill about which very good secret team we scrimmaged... Atlanta is one of the few airports that has direct, off-grid flights to-and-from Area 51.

I'm not sayin'... I'm just sayin'.
