Tennessee Lady Vol News

You are correct, but I guess the fear is the opponents' shooting percentages will remain high and their turnover numbers will decrease considerably as the level of competition ramps up for the Lady Vols. We'll find out in the next couple of games. Hopefully, they can continue to create enough turnovers to win against stronger teams but not by such large margins.

They started closing their traps much better last game, and if they keep improving on that, they'll be golden.

I believe those quadrants are what the men use (though I wish that's what the women used!). Here's what they've agreed on now for the women: DI Women’s Basketball Committee OKs quadrant-based team sheets, complete seed list - NCAA.org).

This makes it much harder to get Q1 and even Q2 wins.

One

Home 1-25
Neutral 1-35
Away 1-45

Two

Home 26-55
Neutral 36-65
Away 46-80

Three

Home 56-90
Neutral 66-105
Away 81-130

Four

Home 91+
Neutral 106+
Away 131+
Thanks didn't know the women were different. Guess not a problem since all teams have to play under the system. Looks like Warren Nolan is using the men's system for women as they have us with a Quad 2 and a Quad 3 win which isn't true under the new system.

I know folks devotedly worship every word that Creme says, but at least he says this about which team is under the radar:
Creme: When was the last time an unbeaten Tennessee team was talked about this little, especially one that leads the nation in scoring? First-year coach Kim Caldwell has completely remade the Lady Vols in her image. Tennessee presses all over the court, shoots 3-pointers freely and runs at any opportunity. Not only are the Lady Vols the country's top point-producing team, they are also the leaders in steals and offensive rebounds.

This team might not look like the traditional Lady Vols, but Pat Summitt would love the production in those two categories. The schedule hasn't been daunting, but so far the coaching change has been a success.

Interesting listen, she almost sounds afraid of Tennessee.

Knowing her background I suspect it's less fear than it is longtime respect for the Tennessee program.

Jensen was born and raised in Iowa, went to college and was the nation's leading scorer while at Drake (also in Iowa) under Lisa Bluder, and is now coaching at her state's most storied women's basketball program.

Iowa girls when they were her age growing up (like Indiana girls, too) very much loved the game of basketball and had a great deal of respect for Pat Summitt and Tennessee. I'm guessing she may have a few nerves coming to stand on the sidelines as the head coach of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on the court named after a legend of the game.

Just my theory.

EDITING TO SAY: lol @ myself for totally forgetting the Iowa game is in Brooklyn, NOT Knoxville!

Soooooo, I guess Jensen's not nervous about coaching on The Summitt! 😂

So, does anyone else think the Iowa game in New York could become a must-attend game for famous alums of both teams? There's a lot of potential there for Fox to take advantage of the Caitlin Clark Phenomenon. Just gotta hope if they do that Tennessee comes through with some star wattage as well, though not even Candace Parker is the draw Clark is. No one has ever drawn fans like Clark.

I'd love to see native New Yorker Chamique Holdsclaw there for sure, even if kids today have no idea who she is. We will! 🧡

Ah, I see Mique lives outside of L.A. now. Might not want to make that cross-country flight. But I can hope!

Got in touch with Warren Nolan and they have corrected their women's basketball website. It now reflects the actual true results based on the changes made by the NCAA. Florida State will be a Quad two game just falling out of the Quad one by two positions. Hopefully we win and then they do well enough from losing to us to get in the top 25 in the NET, Game coming up with Iowa will be our first Quad 1 game. So we could really make a move by winning the next two.

I'm thinking a blowout win over FSU would increase those chances.

The media hasn’t pushed anyone to the degree as Clark, and she’s not anywhere near Candace in talent or game. Candace would be the biggest star the game has seen if the media gave her the same constant promotion and push.

what she DID is impact the game with a style of play that previously was not accepted for female ballers,,,and even Candace didn't have that impact

No looks, outrageous long shots, pocket-feeds etc are now looked upon as something the scouts want...Not avoid!,,,she did what "Pistol Pete Maravich" .... SHe re-invented the game

Candace was the face of college basketball and the league back in the day. Clark may be that now, but there will always be new talent in the pipeline.

yep the "hand in the bucket" theory

To explain,,,You put your hand in a bucket of water and spread your fingers,,,The bucket seems to fill up bc of your hand,,,then you pull your hand out of the bucket and the next person puts their hand in the bucket, and spreads their fingers out,,,Now all one can see is the new hand.

There is always a new hand ... ready to take the place of the withdrawn hand

Man, Clark lives rent free in your head. Candace was the first womans player to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, the first player to make her commitment live nationally on ESPN the first player to win the dunk contest and the first player to do a lot of things that female players are able to do now. Candace had more media Coverage than any female player during her time. Oh, and she played for the legend at the school with the most storied women's basketball programs in history. Didn't have coverage or promotion? Give me a break..

I honestly feel a little pang of sympathy for @DarkPhoenix occasionally. Without question a serious wbb fan, just a little too far out on the fringe with respect to a number of conspiracy theories.
