Whew..
…make it so… could we keep them all happy with playing time?

what she DID is impact the game with a style of play that previously was not accepted for female ballers,,,and even Candace didn't have that impact

No looks, outrageous long shots, pocket-feeds etc are now looked upon as something the scouts want...Not avoid!,,,she did what "Pistol Pete Maravich" .... SHe re-invented the game
Candace was a 6’4 player with guard skills, and a 3 level scorer, she also won the dunk contest against the boys. She did plenty of things we haven’t seen before and she was also a winner at every level she played.

Man, Clark lives rent free in your head. Candace was the first womans player to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, the first player to make her commitment live nationally on ESPN the first player to win the dunk contest and the first player to do a lot of things that female players are able to do now. Candace had more media Coverage than any female player during her time. Oh, and she played for the legend at the school with the most storied women's basketball programs in history. Didn't have coverage or promotion? Give me a break..
I only responded because u mentioned Clark in the same sentence as Candace, I don’t care about that girl. If Candace had the same promotion why did ESPN screw over the WNBA with televising their games, why didn’t they make all her games easily accessible like they did for your girl?

Bringing conspiracy theories up in here again… 🤣😉🤙🏼

There wasn't as many outlets to view games back then. I remember more games on TV when Candace first started than nowadays.

Well you dont have to care or like Clark. I'm sure she isn't going lose any sleep over your feelings about her.

I'm so glad to see that awful blond ref working the Louisville/Oklahoma game. Don't have to worry bout that incompetence in our game tonight. And her partner just made an awful call too.
In retrospect... the difference between an awful blond in Louisville and an awful brunette in Knoxville is only an issue of aesthetics.

Both teams seemed to suffer equally under last night's crew.

At first I was pleased to see "traveling" called by-the-book for a change. But after two FSU players got called for walks when only one foot slid to a halt while the other foot remained a legal pivot, I realized the ref was only demonstrating a principled incompetence--a label usually only used of politicians.

yep...after Iowa, cupcake city
The good thing is that the players can run track for five games and be in top endurance-shape,,,If they can play the way they did in the first half for four quarters,,,it won't matter who's on our schedule

Richmond probably won't be a Q1 game by the time we play them. They had a net ranking of 20 but that loss to Georgetown probably going to push them down the chart.

They dropped to #28 so I think on a neutral court that's still quad 1. We moved up to #30 and Iowa's at #29.

We moved up to #10 at Massey - can't remember the last time we were top 10 in any rating system! Maybe in early 2022 when we were highly ranked before the Keyen Green injury? And we jumped 10 spots to #23 at Warren Nolan ELO.

We only need the last six players on that list or six that are comparable. I think Kim is going to make a splash in the portal and grab a couple elite players so next year so we may even need them all.

Here are the stats so far this season. Some noteworthy ones include
--Cooper - Amazing stats across the board except for turnovers. Truly all SEC first sting statsif not more. Yes, we played a weak schedule, but she was even better in the FSU game than some of the other games.
--Samara - 3.1 assist:turnover ratio (dreams can come true) and 48% on 3-point
shooting (just wow).
--Ruby - 7 rebounds a game in just 22.5 minutes per game.
--Spearman - nice stats across the board except for 3-point shooting and personal fouls.
--Tess - she is doing well in this system, shooting 34.2% on threes, 8.8 PPG, and even has gotten 8 steals.
--Latham - Lots of upside such as 4.5 rebounds and several steals in just 14.5 minutes a game.
--Boyd - Over 2 steals a game in just 17+ minutes.
--Jillian - more passing the eye test for improvement with energy, focus, and much needed zone defense.

Our improvement is truly a team effort with several people making important contributions including the team members without eye popping stats.

Love this. We've got us a really good team this season, that's certain (to me!).

A couple notes on Tess who, like you said, is doing well in this system. I've been kinda surprised by that, to be honest, but so darn happy for her. Prick her finger and I guarantee that girl will bleed Tennessee Orange.

The most surprising thing about Tess is how deceptively quick-handed she is, as well as quick minded to anticipate moments to attempt steals. It's no secret Tess doesn't have the foot speed/lateral quickness that our quicker guards have, but MAN, she sure is savvy out on the floor, and helps us a lot.

And like someone else said, she's really our only true dead-eye shooter from 3. No opposing coach on our schedule isn't going to be talking about needing to be out on Tess. Sure, she can go cold out there, but since she's been a Lady Vol I can only remember two instances when I found myself thinking, "Please, Tess, just stop shooting! Today is just not your day!" I always have the feeling her shots will go in, and to me, that's huge because I'm guessing opponents think that, too. Opens up opportunities for other scorers to have Tess on the floor.

Again, I love this team and staff. 🧡

Yet as a team 43 percent from the field and 29 from the three. What is amazing is how this team can rebound and almost always win the turnover battle. We were even in turnover with Florida State, but did pound them on the boards. Just need better shooting and were ready to take anybody on.
