I am not banking on a #4 seed in SEC tourney, but it would be a big advantage compared to a lower seed because we wouldn't have to play an extra game compared to the top seeds. A win against one of the higher seeds in the SEC tourney would solidify a good NCAA seeding for us. If we are seed #4, we meet the #5 seed in our 2nd game and would have a good chance to win it. If we were 5th or 6th seed, we would meet the 4th or 3rd seeded team in our third consecutive game compared to their 2nd consecutive game, which would make us a decided underdog. Our style of play works best if we wear out the other team rather than vice versa, which this SEC format isn't conducive to. Last year for Marshall, they shot their worst they had all year long as they progressed in their conference tournament. The consecutive day format clearly impacted their shooting. The only reason why they won was that they had tremendous turnover and offensive rebound margins. That is unlikely to happen in the SEC tournament given how the best teams don't turn it over much except OU and they all rebound at least as good as us. It is even more unlikely to be the case if we are entering the game more fatigued due to playing an extra game. So, let's win the rest of the games and cheer for are chief competitors for the #4 seed to lose.
