Tennessee Lady Vol News

You don't see there is a problem?
Yes, there is obviously a problem,,2 that I can see

1 we need to work on more than just man defense. Ala and GA both hit us with "cutter" basketball and cherry picking

and

2 we sub a hundred subs a game to "push the pace and tire our comp out",,,and then walk the ball down the court,,,ain't gonna wear out anybody doing that.

Sara checked out mid season.
100 percent speculation on my part here but what are forums for, but I remember an early season/pre season interview where she talked about working so hard and wanting to be the leader on this team etc and as the season went on, her role just got smaller and smaller in favor of the transfers. Possible that didn't sit well. I don't at all think that she quit or gave up, but she's human and her situation has to be frustrating.

I do think with next year being much more of a whole team selected by Kim and much less patched together, things will improve. Should make getting and keeping chemistry easier.

Just to give you an update on who's going to be here (and their present 25 hoopgurlz rank),, Mia (#11)and Mya(#56) Pauldo,,,Deniya Prawl(#14),,Jaiden Civil(#32),,,Lauren Hurst(#41),,,so far ;o)

right now Kim has to sub players who have heart, skill, brains and limited speed,,,in a system that relies on speed

She has already exceeded MY expectations,,,but, like all of you,,,I want to not see any backwards movement

Is 9th place the lowest the Lady Vols have ever finished in conference play? I know Holly had an 8-8 season, but I can't remember any other season lower than that.
Holly's last season went 7-9 in SEC games and tied for 8th (obviously before Oklahoma and Texas joined the conference). Don't recall what seed we had in the tie-breaker.

LVs finished 9th in conference, and didn’t even have to play either of the top two teams, Texas and SC. They now look like they’ve run out of steam.

Y'all, seriously. At this point I don't think I'm seeing "lack of effort," "lack of urgency" "lack of desire," "lack of execution," or even "lack of focus."

What I saw -- I repeat, what *I* saw -- yesterday from the team overall was a complete lack of energy. I'm afraid this team is physically and mentally spent. Exhausted. They were like gas station hot dogs that have been left on the roller under the heat lamp too long, turning over and over and over. Ugh.

This is not an easy fix because only time away from something fixes an exhaustion problem.

And yes, I know both Samara and Jewell mentioned lack of effort and focus, but what else are they going to say? They know what the coach thinks, so they're going to say what everyone wants to hear. Does anyone really believe they'd sit there and say, "We are exhausted by playing a full season within a system we're supposed to play on warp speed and focus for 40 minutes every game, in the brutal SEC, and with only one offensive setup" (???)

lol OF COURSE they're not going to say that, but it may be that they are so exhausted that they've lost trust and belief in the system, and that is a serious problem that only Kim can address -- WITHOUT BLAMING THE PROBLEM ON THE PLAYERS.

Kim's only chance to turn this around is to make a couple of significant changes in her strategy going into the post-season. She needs to give the team a mental and physical break by switching things up, by her lightening up, and by showing the players love and confidence.

I love this team and I hate to see them so broken. I hate even more that Kim is putting all of the blame for that brokenness on them and that the players are naturally obliged to publicly accept total blame when they know they don't DESERVE to be told they "lack effort" after busting their butts.

Just my two cents. 😪

Yeah, they were working so hard, and yet they just looked gassed mentally, physically, and emotionally. They tried to rally and didn't have the juice to get it done. They also have classes and life that I know are "distractions" but arguably are more important than basketball. It would explain why their shots aren't falling too.

We dropped two spots in the NET to #14. We're now the only team in the top 25 of the NET with a Q4 loss.

We do still have more Q1 wins than most of the teams hovering around the 4-5 seed line. Getting another one vs. Vandy would be huge since other teams will surely be picking up neutral-site Q1 wins during their conference tournaments, too.

We got enough stops, turnovers, offensive rebounds to win. You just can't win games shooting 34 percent. That is totally ineffective to win a basketball game. If we shoot 34 percent Wednesday A&M should definitely beat us. Even bad teams shoot the ball better than 34 percent.
