If we beat Stanford, does that change you opinion? Sometimes there are teams that make it far on defense Ala Rutgers/LSU in the early 2000s.. just that grind it out game that most opponents that love and thrive on offense hate.
I've made the comparison with this team to Rutgers many times. I think that's pretty much what they are...
Rutgers is 6-7 with no good wins and a bunch of bad losses to ranked and to unranked teams they've played. They have a 50 year veteran head coach with 25 years at Rutgers. How in the world do you compare UT's current program to theirs without expecting us to laugh out loud at you?

He's saying Tennessee today is playing like the old Rutgers teams used to play. They could clamp down teams and rebound like demons, but they had ugly offense. Their strategy was to grind it out in low scoring affairs. I don't think this is a bad comparison, because that's essentially how they've played to date. Of course peak Tennessee was a different level from peak Rutgers (although they did nearly steal a NC from the LVs).I was addressing DV and his comparison of us now vs Rutgers now. At Rutgers peak, they were no where near our peak was. I can't see how he can compare our program now to Rutgers now or at their peak.

I don't think anyone is saying that the old Rutgers teams were bad. That's the point. You don't need to have a beautiful offense to win...you just have less margin for error.Well, a lot of the old Rutgers teams were very good, SS's, EE's, FF's, and a title game appearance. Although our offense is a poor shooting one, our offensive rebounding helps negate that to a certain degree, so our offense is not as bad as it appears when we are rebounding like that.

Thank you. I’ve said this many times only to be met with denials. Pat did have some top recruits, but she made what we would consider today 3-star players into championship teams because she was a brilliant coach…..and wonderful person.Pat never depended on top recruits to win championships. At one point, she had 10 losses still won a championship. That's shows a tough coach who fought had & work with whatever she had and not cry about it. Just like Kellie fighting with wat she got now.
