Tennessee Lady Vol News

A concern with Louisville that I have is that they don't have the size advantage in the frontcourt against UConn and their best post player Olivia Cochran can let her emotions get the best of her.

Unless Dorka has another lights out game, then I think that Louisville will shut down UConn's post game.

Know that Westbrook tore her ACL at Connecticut. Don't remember a Westbrook injury at UT. Know that Auriemma gave Coach Fulmer a hard time over not releasing Westbrook.
westbrook went holly fired after lady vols loss ncaa game on tv interview. the rule is you do not have to sit if they fired your coach. but since westbrook wanted tenn to fired holly she did not deserve wavier for when they fired the coach that recuited you. unconn gets more refs calls as does south caroline. 100 % agree with ncaa for once treating unconn like other teams . just because espn in love with unconn they should get special treatment all time.

I believe it wasn't about releasing her but because Fulmer & UT wouldn't actively help support UCONN's case. UT neither opposed her release nor supported the petition to play immediately at CONN, just stayed neutral. If my recollection is faulty, someone pitch in with correction.

That was it entirely. We simply chose not to give an opinion. Geno was mad and felt Fulmer should have given an affirmative. All said it worked out fine because she had to have surgery anyhow and did not play.

Geno made his comments after Fulmer had decide not to issue an opinion either way. Which I think was probably better for EW anyhow. Have a feeling if his hand had been forced his recommendation would have been that she not play due to issues that arose during her time at UT. She was part of the problem…funny how similar UCONNs issues look in the rear view mirror. Same familiar face is right in the middle of a mess.

Not really.

Fudd was feeling the effects of that stress reaction and could only go an ineffective 10 minutes.
Griffin hasn't played all season. She is their best defensive player and was the best offensive rebounder per minutes last year.
Muhl only played 3 minutes.

You haven't seen them 100% for sure.
I am curious why UCONN fan always bring up MUHL like she is some type of game changer.

Muhl is their backup PG. So they effectively lost both of their PGs at the same time. I think Evina will ultimately do a better job at PG than Muhl, but she can't get in foul trouble and has to play a lot of minutes. Muhl can take the load off because she can let Evina take a breather without someone ill-equipped needing to come in and run the offense outside of their normal position. I guess that would have to be Williams, and she can't exactly pass the ball to herself.

In the context of the post you were replying to, she wouldn't have made a lick of a difference against SC, who was also without their backup PG.

I am still on the fence about Tennesse being a contender. However, if they beat Stanford then I will believe. If they lose, I will stay on the fence and wait and see what they look like with Burrell.
It's just one game. I think we'll know if Tennessee is really a contender or not during SEC play.

It is one game. That is why I will stay on the fence. If they beat Stanford or even come close without Burrell, I think they would have done enough in nonconference play for me personally to lose my skepticism.

It's a tough matchup IMO. I suspect Geno secretly loves all the "rat poison" surrounding the program, and Walz has a track record of getting pummeled by UConn...

I don’t recall Westbrook tearing an ACL at UConn. Someone feel free to correct me but I believe Westbrook was hurt/injured sometime her last year at UT. When she transferred to UConn Geno infered that Holly had made Westbrook play while injured. You are correct he also pitched a fit when Fulmer would not do a release to NCAA so she could play immediately.

you are correct. Westbrook DID NOT tear her ACL at UConn. She sat the entire first year she was there, and did have ACL surgery for a previous injury that did not happen at her time with UConn.

E didn’t want Holly fired. She just wanted some type of change. She like all the fans were looking for the team to go in a different direction. Wether that being with a whole new set of assistant coaches or offense overhaul. Idk how many more time I could watch Holly on the sideline with her hands up looking clueless.

you've just summed up why it took so long for us to get back into the top ten,,,and also, most everyone's belief in how long we will stay there

Seriously, When a man say to his wife, "I want to let u kn that I'm gona be marry a 2nd wife"... And first wife start parking..but he said, I never ask u to leave... When she stated that she wanted a change so u meant change the president not the coach rite..
Anyway, is old story. I'm glad to have Kellie.

This is the Lady Vol News thread. Huskies, please make your way over to the non-lady vol page. Thanks.
Yes please thank God good bye have a nice night see you, thank you. Now someone get pg1 to stop whining about the schedule in every thread I've read so far and I'll be good. TIA for anything anyone can do, much appreciated

For me, the schedule is just about right. 'We need some easy games to get our team to jell together and build confidence, especially given that the freshman are major contributors. The schedule also has given some good challenges such as USF, @UCF, and @Va Tech, all likely eventual NCAA teams. Then it has several major challenges against some of the biggest names in the land (Texas, Stanford, and Uconn. All of this except for UCONN before starting our challenging SEC schedule. This seems lie there is a bit of everything on our schedule, which will help prepare out team in the long run.
