Tennessee - Memphis cancelled

I’m not sure if this is true, but I saw somewhere that Barclay’s policy weirdly doesn’t apply to visiting teams, only home teams? Is that the case? Or is the policy actually that all participants have to be vaccinated?

If it’s the latter, then yeah Penny and Memphis need to face some punishment. Can’t let blatant lying like that go over without recourse.
Even if that is true, which is possible…MSG requires all guests to be vaccinated, Memphis went and watched the Knicks play, they didn’t play at MSG.

But even if that's true, they didn't play at MSG they just took in a game.

Sports are about passionate rivalries. This just makes it stronger. Let’s continue to beat them down so bad they wished they just had covid.

NYC Vaccine Policy:

People 5 and older are required to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for:
  • Indoor dining
    • Includes restaurants, catering halls, hotel banquet rooms, bars, nightclubs, cafeterias, coffee shops, fast food restaurants, grocery stores with indoor dining and other indoor dining spaces
  • Indoor fitness
    • Includes gyms, fitness centers, fitness classes, pools, dance studios and other indoor fitness studios, such as yoga or Pilates
  • Indoor entertainment and certain meeting spaces
    • Includes movie theaters, music and concert venues, museums, aquariums and zoos, professional sports arenas, indoor stadiums, convention centers, exhibition halls, hotel meeting and event spaces, performing arts theaters, bowling alleys, arcades, pool and billiard halls, recreational game centers, adult entertainment and indoor play areas

People 18 and older are also required to show identification along with their proof of vaccination. These requirements — called the Key to NYC — also means employees working at these locations must be vaccinated.

The vaccine requirements as of December 14th are much more stringent, however in the past few months Barclays still required the first vaccine at a minimum.

Another downside of the cancellation is that it will render all of our preseason predictions for UT’s record incorrect, unless someone used faulty math or figured that Memphis would tuck tail and cancel.

Basilio just read something over the air stating that visiting team's players do not have to be vaccinated to play at Madison Square Garden or Barclays Center, which would seemingly absolve Tennessee from having two unvaccinated players.

However, Memphis attended a game as a guest, not a visiting player, which would seem to indict them of breaking the rules specific to NYC.

So you’re confirming what I said?

Correct, that’s what I shared earlier…the MSG visit is the big question mark.

It’s personal for Barnes with Penny. I think things were slightly mended in the last couple years, but last Saturday ended all chances of any reconciliation. Can’t fault Rick at all though. Lost $30k we’ll never get back and he’s not going to bend over backwards to get the game rescheduled with a full conference slate ahead.

Any coach who says “GTFO Rick Barnes” in a public setting is classless and a terrible example to kids everywhere. You’ve got Memphis players calling out Barnes on Twitter. Just another example of Hardaway’s effect on his players.

By the way, all of the Memphis trolls have mysteriously left the building. In light of some of the last 24 hours revelations, maybe they’re just playing it smart.

I haven’t been able to follow this. I know Memphis backed out at the last minute. What’s the backstory on it? What is it people are aging Penny lied about?

He first said 2 tested positive and the rest were in contact tracing and they couldn’t field a team. Then, he said 90% of his team were vaccinated. In that case, they could have played the game. Then again, Sunday, he said he ”misspoke” and only 4 players were vaccinated. This was all before the NYC revelations this morning.
