Tennessee @ Mississippi State (October 13, 2012)

We were so fired up to dominate in-state opponent Jackson State yesterday that we had little malfunction exiting during the pregame run-out. Glad it was on FSN and not ESPN.

Sums up MSU nicely.

Someone rolled a football in front of them. They had no choice but to assume fumble and go for the recovery. It's instinctive at this point.

Billy, the new AP poll has Tennessee with 73 votes and Mississippi State with only 3 votes. Also, espn's power rankings has us at 23 and you guys not even receiving any votes.

2012 NCAA College Football Polls and Rankings for Week 2 - ESPN

Well deserved for you guys. You proved something in week 1 and State did not(couldn't given the opponent). Patterson was incredible. Silenced the critics in our fantasy league that were giving me crap for starting him in week 1, that much is for sure.

Was glad we got to roll through 70 scholarship players though. Literally everyone that isn't redshirting played on Saturday for us.

To note for Vol fans: Richie Brown did not dress nor play. He is going to redshirt. Bodes well for our strength and depth at LB...

Keep on runnin that mouth while u have the chance because we are gonna smash your little SEC East team.

Thats right! Tell him!

SEC West! SEC West! SEC West!

Ya'll got that one SEC west championship ring from 98' don't let them trash talk you like that.

You're going to need to clone Banks twice to cover our passing attack. State hasn't improved too much from last year and you damn near lost to LA Tech and eeked out a win against Wake Forest who got RAILROADED by Vanderbilt.

Link? Not sure how you drew that conclusion out of a 56-9 thrashing of a fcs team in which our starting OL played either 1 or 2 series. Let's wait until this weekend plays itself out before claiming to know anything about us...

State had alot of injuries last year at the one position we couldn't afford it. We were down 2 starting OL in the 2nd half of the Auburn game week 2 and lost a 3rd before halftime against LSU. So, we had rsFR getting their first career snaps at both tackle spots against Mingo/Montgomery and had one against Lemonier the week before. This led directly to Chris Relf cracking a few ribs against LSU. Season derailed.

Relf is still dizzy.

LA Tech took State to OT and you won 26-20 last year...that happened. As for Jackson State, it would not have shocked me to see State struggle a little but they did great...against an FCS team.

This weekend will be a litmus test for you guys. Personally, I always root for State unless they play UT, will be no different this weekend...but State will always be the SEC equivalent of the Cubs to me; lovable losers.

That La Tech team ended up being pretty legit last year, if you look at who they lost to and how they lost. I agree that the game was far too close for comfort, and we played pretty terrible in the game. We honestly SHOULD have lost that game. However, as a UT fan, can we all agree that last year isn't the best way to set expectations for the next year?

This team will be very different than any previous State team for better or worse... We will see in 18 hours.
